Cumberland, Multiple Roads, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Improvement Works
What is happening?
Cumberland Council (Various Roads In The Cumberland Area) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) (No.11) Order 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Levelling Up Highway Improvement works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.
Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 8 April 2024 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as stated in the schedule and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
1. A595 Bootle - From 8 April 2024 for approx. 3 weeks Ref: TTROC/9966)
From its junction with Chapel Lane, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 900m.
2. A595 Waberthwaite - From 29 April 2024 for approx. 3 weeks (Ref TTROC/10021)
From a point approx. 200m north east of its junction with C4027, extending in an overall southernly direction for approx. 1.6km.
3. A595 Gosforth - From 20 May 2024 for approx. 4 weeks (Ref TTROC/10024)
From its junction with the B5344, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 2.4km.
4. A595 Holmrook - From 24 June 2024 for approx. 3 weeks (Ref TTROC/10027)
From its junction with the C2043, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 2.5km
5. A595 Calder Bridge - From 15 July 2024 for approx. 2 weeks (Ref TTROC/10031)
From its junction with Cold Fell, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 930m.
Alternative Routes for during the restrictions detailed in 1 to 5 above:
Vehicles: via the unrestricted section of the A595, A5092, A591 and A66.
Vehicles exceeding 7.5 tonnes maximum gross weight (HGV's) and vehicles exceeding 6'6" in width: via the A595, A5092, M6 (if permitted) and A66.
6. A595 Whicham - From 17 June 2024 for approx. 6 days (Ref TTROC/10025)
From its southern junction with the A5093, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 6km.
Alternative Route: via the A5093
7. A5086 Frizington - From 29 July 2024 for approx. 1 month (Ref TTROC/10082)
From its junction with the U4022, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 1.4km.
8. A5086 Cleator - From 27 August 2024 for approx. 2 weeks (Ref TTROC/10273)
From its junction with the U4030, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 1.4 km
