What is happening?

WEST BERKSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL
UNDER SECTION 14/1 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 WEST BERKSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL (THE COUNCIL) INTENDS TO MAKE ORDERS AS FOLLOWING

(ALDWORTH ROAD, BASILDON)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2024
The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Aldworth Road in the Parish of Basildon between its junction with Long Bottom Road and its junction with Hook End Lane. The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via Pangbourne Rd, Pangbourne Hill, Shooters Hill, Reading Rd (A329), Streatley Hill, Aldworth Rd (B4009), Reading Rd, and vice versa. The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Thames Water to carry out repairs & maintenance works. The proposed Order will come into effect on 2nd April 2024. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 3rd and 5th April 2024.

(RECTORY ROAD, STREATLEY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2024
The council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Rectory Road in Streatley between its junction with A340 Wantage Road and the entrance to Goring and Streatley Golf Club. The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Scottish and Southern Power Distribution to carry out tree pruning around their network. The proposed Order will come into effect on 8th April 2024. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 09:30 and 15:30 hours on 9th April 2024.

(STONEY LANE IN THE PARISHES OF NEWBURY AND COLD ASH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2024
The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Stoney Lane in the Parishes of Newbury and Cold Ash between its junction with Pine Ridge and its junction with Stone Copse. The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via Ashmore Green Rd, Tull Way, Turnpike Rd, and vice versa. The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for S278 works (installation of service infrastructure etc) for new residential development. The proposed Order will come into effect on 2nd April 2024.
It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 2nd April and 11th June 2024.

(VARIOUS ROADS ACROSS THE COUNCIL AREA)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & NO WAITING)
HIGHWAYS IMPROVEMENT ORDER 2024
The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over the entire length of the roads listed in the Schedule below. To facilitate the works, no waiting will be allowed on roads that need to be closed, or require a carriageway incursion, or their diversion routes up to 12 hours prior to the start date of any works until their conclusion. The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order will vary depending on the exact length to be closed and will be signed
on site for the duration of the closure. The purpose of this Order is to enable any and all maintenance works to take place as a result of scheduled routine maintenance inspections. The proposed Order will come into effect on Tuesday 2nd April 2024. The exact date(s) of any closure will be advertised on site prior to the closure.

(NORTHFIELD ROAD, THATCHAM)
(TEMPORARY NO WAITING AT ANY TIME) ORDER 2024
The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from waiting at any time on Northfield Road in the town of Thatcham between its junctions with the A4 Bath Road and Chapman Walk. The purpose of this Order is to prevent any potential danger to the public due to parked cars in proximity to the traffic signalled junction. The proposed Order will come into effect on Monday 1st April 2024. It is envisaged that the restrictions will be in place from Monday 1st April 2024.

(SADLERS ROAD, INKPEN)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2024
The Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Sadlers Road in the Parish of Inkpen between its junction with Totterdown and its junction with Byway 52. There is no alternative route for vehicles affected by the Order, therefore resident and blue light access will be maintained. The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Thames Water to carry out repairs to their network. The proposed Order will come into effect on 15th April 2024. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 16th and 18th April 2024.

(POTTERY LANE, INKPEN)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2024
The Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Pottery Lane in the Parish of Inkpen along its entire length. As there is no alternative route for vehicles affected by the Order, resident access will be maintained. The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Thames Water can carry out repair and maintenance works. The proposed Order will come into effect on 15th April 2024. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 17th and 19th April 2024.

(KINGS ROAD AND HECTORS WAY, NEWBURY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF WAITING AT ANY TIME AND
PARTIAL SUSPENSION OF ONE-WAY TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
The Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an order the effect of which will be:

• to temporarily suspend approx. 72m of existing Permit Holders Only parking on the northern side of Kings Road between No 128 & 148 Kings Road and introduce a no waiting at any time restriction in its place (double yellow lines),

• to temporarily suspend approx. 75m of existing one-way traffic restriction on Kings Road between Boundary Road and property No 132 Kings Road,

• to prohibit any vehicle from waiting at any time on the northern side of Hectors Way from its roundabout with the Superstore for a distance of approx. 65m eastwards and on the southeastern corner of the access road into the retail until on the southern side of Hectors Way (double yellow lines).

The purpose of this Order is to prevent any potential danger to the public due to changes to the road layout in relation to the Sterling Cables development. The proposed Order will come into effect on Monday 15th April 2024. It is envisaged that the restrictions will be in place and the Order shall remain in force from Monday 15th April 2024.

(BURGHFIELD FOOTPATH 14, PARISH OF BURGHFIELD)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS) ORDER 2024
The Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an order the effect of which will be to prohibit any use of the following footpath, namely Burghfield Footpath 14 in Burghfield, from its junction with Burghfield Footpath 24 to its junction with Mill Road. The alternative route for all pedestrians affected by the Order is via Mill Road, Burghfield Road, and Burghfield Footpath 24, and vice versa. The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Sustrans to enable works to resurface and widen the route which also accommodates National
Cycle Network Route 4. The proposed Order will come into effect on 8th April 2024. The Order shall remain in force for a period of Six months, or until the works are complete, whichever is the soonest.

Unless stated otherwise the above orders shall remain in force for a period of eighteen months, or until the works are complete, whichever is the soonest, they will not take effect until approved traffic signs have been erected. Final details of the closure can be viewed on One.Network
