Provision of Speed Humps, Entry Treatment and Kerb to Kerb Raised Junction Speed Tables

Gants Hill South Area (Amendments)

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to control the speed of vehicles under the Highways Act 1980 and in accordance with the provisions of the Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999 the Council of the London Borough of Redbridge proposes to construct sinusoidal speed humps, entry treatment and raised kerb to kerb junction speed tables at each of the following locations:

(a) Outside Nos. 94 & 96, 114, 115 and 117, 134, 154 & 156, 174, 192, 214 & 216, 252, 272 and 274, 291, 294 & 296, 310, 326 and 328, 329, 350 & 352, 347 and 348, 360, 394 Wanstead Park Road or thereabouts;

(b) Outside No. 1 Wells Gardens or thereabouts;

(c) In Wells Gardens, 27 metres from its junction with Canterbury Avenue or thereabouts;

(d) Outside No. 12 Carlisle Gardens or thereabouts;

(e) Outside Nos. 5 and 13 & 15 Wakefield Gardens or thereabouts;

(f) Outside Nos. 13 metres east of No. 1, 15, and 14 & 16 Ripon Gardens or thereabouts;

(g) Outside Nos. 1 & 3, 40 and 81 Canterbury Avenue or thereabouts;

(h) Outside No. 16 Peterborough Gardens or thereabouts;

(i) Outside Nos. 17 & 19, 33 & 35 Chichester Gardens or thereabouts;

(j) 13 metres south-east of the common boundary Nos. 2 & 4 and 15.5 metres south-west of the common boundary Nos. 46 & 48 Stonehall Avenue or thereabouts;

(k) Outside No. 12 Castle Drive or thereabouts;

(l) Outside no. 54 and 74 Castleview Gardens;

(m) Outside Nos. 7 & 9 The Crescent or thereabouts;

(n) Outside Nos. 21, 38 & 40, 52 & 54, 68 & 70, 84, 126, 162 Wanstead Lane or thereabouts;

(o) Outside No. 2 Hillview Crescent or thereabouts;

(p) Outside No. 7 Devonport Gardens or thereabouts;

(q) 5 metres east of Nos. 2, 16, 34 Preston Gardens or thereabouts;

(r) 8 metres east of No. 1, Nos. 10 & 12, and 24 Rochester Gardens or thereabouts;

(s) Outside Nos. 12 & 14, 26, 29 & 31 Exeter Gardens or thereabouts;

(t) Outside Nos. 8, 22 & 24 Chelmsford Gardens or thereabouts;

(u) 17.5 metres east of no. 1 Chichester Gardens on Chelmsford Gardens or thereabouts;

(v) Outside Nos. 1 & 3, 13, 24 & 26, 38 Lincoln Gardens or thereabouts;

(w) Outside No. 16 Hereford Gardens or thereabouts; and

(x) Outside No. 2 Gloucester Gardens or thereabouts.

(y) Castle Drive at its junction with Evanston Road;

(z) Truro Gardens at its junction with Canterbury Avenue;

(aa) Chelmsford Gardens at its junction with Canterbury Avenue;

(bb) Worcester Gardens at its junction with The Drive;

(cc) Exeter Gardens at its junction with The Drive;

(dd) St Edmund's Road at its junction with Beehive Lane;

(ee) Wanstead Lane at its junction with Canterbury Avenue;

(ff) The Drive at its junctions with Castle Drive and Castleview Gardens;

(gg) The Drive at its junction with Empress Avenue;

(hh) The Drive at its junction with Endsleigh Gardens;

(ii) Beehive Lane at its junction with Castleview Gardens; and

(jj) Beehive Lane at its junctions with Clarence Avenue and Wanstead Lane.

2. The speed humps (a) to (x) would be of sinusoidal design, not more than 75 millimetres at their highest point with an overall length of 3.7 metres, a width of 1.6 metres and kerb channels. The speed humps would be constructed in accordance with Department of Transport Regulations.

3. The entry treatments (y) to (dd) would be of flat top design, not more than 75 millimetres at their highest point with an overall length would vary. The entry treatment would be constructed at the junction from kerb to kerb without channels and in accordance with Department for Transport Regulations.

4. The raised kerb to kerb junction speed tables (ee) to (jj) would be of flat top design, not more than 75 millimetres at their highest point and extend beyond width of junctions. The raised junction speed tables would be constructed from kerb to kerb without channels and in accordance with Department for Transport Regulations.

5. A further effect of the scheme would be to remove the existing speed cushions outside Nos. 94 & 96, 114, 115 & 117, 134, 154 & 156, 174, 192, 214, 216, 291, 329, 347 and 348, Wanstead Park Road or thereabouts.

6. This is a revision of the proposals first advertised in the Ilford Recorder on 11 January 2024.

7. A copy of the plan showing the locations of the traffic calming measures may be inspected between 9.00am and 4.30pm Mondays to Fridays (9.30am to 4.30pm on Wednesdays) at the information Centre, Lynton House, 255-259 High Road, Ilford, Essex IG1 1NY.

8. Any person wishing to object or make representation to the proposals should send a statement in writing of their objection or representation and the grounds thereof to the Chief Environmental Services Officer, Lynton House, 255-259 High Road, Ilford, Essex IG1 1NY quoting reference GH S/TC/SA/DB - SA by no later than 18th April 2024.

(a) In Lonsdale Crescent, 9 metres north-east of the junction of Perth Road or thereabouts;

(b) Outside Nos. 306 & 308 Perth Road or thereabouts;

(c) Outside Nos. 244 & 246 Perth Road or thereabouts;

(d) Outside No. 224 Perth Road or thereabouts;

(e) Outside No. 190 Perth Road or thereabouts;

(f) Outside No. 168 Perth Road or thereabouts;

(g) Outside No. 39 Quebec Road or thereabouts;

(h) In Quebec Road, 13 metres from the junction of Brisbane Road or thereabouts;

(i) Outside No. 70 Brisbane Road or thereabouts;

(j) Outside Nos. 52 & 54 Brisbane Road or thereabouts;

(k) In Brisbane Road, approximately 30 metres from the junction of Auckland Road or thereabouts;

(l) Outside Nos. 28 & 30 Brisbane Road or thereabouts;

(m) Outside Nos. 22 & 24 Brisbane Road or thereabouts;

(n) Outside No. 69 Wellesley Road or thereabouts;

(o) Outside No. 93 Wellesley Road or thereabouts;

(p) In Wellesley Road, approximately 28 metres from the junction of Melbourne Road or thereabouts;

(q) Outside Nos.12 & 14 Brisbane Road or thereabouts;

(r) Outside Nos. 69, 71, 73 & 75 Coventry Road or thereabouts;

The raised junction speed tables would be constructed from kerb to kerb without channels and in accordance with Department for Transport Regulations.

4. A further effect of the scheme would be to remove the existing speed cushions outside Nos. 12 and 14, 22 and 24, 28 and 30 and 52 and 54 Brisbane Road or thereabouts.
