What is happening?

Various Roads, Crewkerne in the Parishes of Crewkerne and Misterton (Temporary Traffic Restrictions) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that on the 22nd day of March 2024 Somerset Council made the above Order in exercise of the provisions of Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as previously advertised on the 14th day of March 2024, to introduce phased temporary traffic restrictions on the roads specified in the Schedules below. This Order will come into operation on the 28th day of March 2024 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The Works are to be phased (as signed on site) and expected to commence on the 2nd day of April 2024 until the 30th day of September 2024 (between 0800 hours and 1630 hours) to enable Wales and West Utilities to carry out gas replacement works. The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs.

A356 South Street, Crewkerne (Phase 1) – from the junction with Furland Road to the junction with Blacknell Lane
A356 South Street, Crewkerne (Phase 2 and 3) – from the junction with Blacknell Lane to the junction with Kithill Kithill, Crewkerne (Phase 2 and 3) – from the junction with the A356 South Street to the junction with The Old Coal Yard
A356 Station Road, Crewkerne (Bridge Closure) (Phase 5) – from the junction with East Sidings Drive to the junction with Monarch Road.

Statement of reasons for making the Order
a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
