What is happening?
Highways
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
Bullockstone Road, Herne Bay, CT6 5PX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow sewer connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bullockstone Road, Herne Bay, on or after 2nd April 2024, for up to 13 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the former driving range, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Bullockstone Road, Greenhill Road, A2990 Thanet Way, Thornden Wood Road, Owls Hatch Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Glen Iris Close, Canterbury, CT2 8HR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Glen Iris Close, Canterbury, on or after 15th April 2024, for up to 5 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 1, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Gravel Castle Road, Barham, CT4 6LG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Gravel Castle Road, Barham, on or after 16th April 2024, with estimated completion by 17th April 2024, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of The Oast House, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The One-Way Order on Gravel Castle Road will be suspended for the duration of the works, between the junctions with Church Lane and Brickfield Road.
The alternative route for vehicles under 7.5 tonne is via Church Lane, The Street, Valley Road, Old Valley Road, Brickfield Road and vice versa.
The alternative route for vehicles over 7.5 tonne is via Gravel Castle Road, A260 Old Dover Road, A2 Dover Road, Bonny Bush Slip Westbound Off, Bonny Bush Hill, Black Robin Lane, Valley Road and Derringstone Hill.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
High Street & Beach Street, Herne Bay, CT6 5EJ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of High Street & Beach Street, Herne Bay, on or after 2nd April 2024, for up to 11 days, or until the works have been completed.
High Street will be closed 50m either side of the junction with Beach Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
Beach Street will be closed 50m either side of the junction with High Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The One-Way Order on Beach Street, will be temporarily suspended between Hanover Street & Mortimer Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic for:-
High Street is via High Street, Avenue Road, Sea Street, Greenhill Bridge Road, A2990 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road, High Street and vice versa.
Beach Street (between Hanover Street & High Street) is via Hanover Street, Richmond Road then follow High Street diversion.
Beach Street (between Mortimer Street & High Street) is via Mortimer Street, Richmond Street then follow diversion for High Street.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Highgate Road, The Heath & Becket Close, Whitstable. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow footway reconstruction works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Highgate Road, The Heath & Becket Close, Whitstable, on or after 15th April 2024, with estimated completion by 4th August 2024, Monday to Saturday, between the hours of 08.00 and 17.00, or until the works have been completed.
Highgate Road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Highgate Road, Fletcher Road and vice versa.
The Heath will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained all times when it is safe to do so.
Becket Close will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Lambkin Wall, Wickhambreaux, CT3 4BB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow renewal works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Lambkin Wall, Wickhambreaux, on or after 15th April 2024, for up to 5 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction of Stodmarsh Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Stodmarsh Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Orchard Close, Canterbury, CT2 7AL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Orchard Close, Canterbury, on or after 17th April 2024, for up to 8 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 36, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Pond Cottages, Herne. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Pond Cottages, Herne, on or after 15th April 2024, for up to 5 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside the Huntsman and Horn, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Pond Cottages, Margate Road, Broomfield Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
School Lane, Herne, CT6 7HR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow street lighting works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of School Lane, Herne, on or after 3rd April 2024, for up to 1 day, between the hours of 09.00 and 16.30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junction with Herne Street and the junction with Mill Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic:-
Northeast bound is via the A291 Canterbury Road, A299 Thanet Way, Margate Road Interchange, Margate Road, Hunters Forstal Road, Mill Lane and School Lane.
Southwest bound is via School Lane, Mill Lane, A299 Thanet Way and A291 Canterbury Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
St Lawrence Forstal, Canterbury, CT1 3PD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on St Lawrence Forstal, Canterbury, on or after 15th April 2024, for up to 12 days, between the hours of 08.00 and 18.00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed for the entire length, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
St Stephens Road, Canterbury, CT2 7FQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPENSION OF ENVIRONMENTAL WEIGHT LIMIT) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow scaffolding works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of St Stephens Road, Canterbury, on or after 2nd April 2024, for up to 11 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 105, Glebe House, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The environmental weight limit on Beaconsfield Road, Forty Acres Road and Station Road West will be suspended.
The alternative route is via St Stephen’s Hill, Beaconsfield Road, Forty Acres Road, A290 Whitstable Road, St Dunstans Street, Station Road West, St Stephens Road, St Stephen’s Road Roundabout and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The Avenue, Hersden, CT3 4HL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow renewal works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The Avenue, Hersden, on or after 15th April 2024, for up to 5 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 7, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via The Avenue, East View, A28 Island Road, The Sycamores and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The Street, Kingston, CT4 6JB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow gas supply works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The Street, Kingston, on or after 3rd April 2024, for up to 8 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 6, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Westwood Road, Pheasant Hall Road, Crows Camp Road, Frog Lane, Bonny Bush Hill and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Vale Road, Whitstable, CT5 4HT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Vale Road, Whitstable, on or after 15th April 2024, for up to 12 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Tralee, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Virginia Road, Whitstable, CT5 3DR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow new electrical connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Virginia Road, Whitstable, on or after 2nd April 2024, for up to 13 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with South Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via South Street, Millstrood Road, A2990 Thanet Way, Clover Rise, Grasmere Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
