THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (LITTLE BURDON ROUNDABOUT) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in Darlington, to enable resurfacing works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to start at 8am on Monday 15 April 2024 for 2 weeks or until completed.

The effect of the Order will be, between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works, to close the:

(i) A66 northbound and southbound carriageways from the B6279 Tornado Way to the A1150 Little Burdon Roundabout, a distance of 1300 metres;

(ii) A66 westbound carriageway from Sadberge Road to Little Burdon Roundabout, a distance of 1400 metres;

(iii) A66 northbound and southbound carriageways from the A1150 Bishopton Lane to A66 Little Burdon Roundabout;

(iv) A66 westbound entry and exit slip roads at Sadberge Road/Middleton Road;

(v) side roads adjacent to the A1150 carriageway at Stockton Road; and

(vi) cycle path and footpath adjacent to the A1150 carriageway between Stockton Road and Little Burdon Roundabout.

During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.

Traffic management will be in force 24 hour a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works, or for winter maintenance). Access will be maintained at all times to all premises and properties accessible from, and only from the A66. The Order comes into force on 14 April 2024 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.

The project manager for this scheme is Adam Smith.
