What is happening?

THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD
(DURHAM ROAD, LOW FELL) (BUS LANE AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS) TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024

Notice is hereby given that on the 20 March 2024 the Borough Council of Gateshead (“hereinafter referred to as the Council”) made an order in exercise of their powers under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3) and 4, 19 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), by virtue of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Northumbria Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act.

The order which comes into effect on the 25 March 2024:
1. Amends the Tyne and Wear County Council (The Metropolitan Borough of Gateshead) Traffic Regulation (Consolidation) Order 1982 and The Borough Council of Gateshead (Traffic Movements) (Consolidation) 2010 as set out in the draft Order.
2. introduces a prohibition of waiting at any time along Durham Road and Appledore Gardens as set out in Schedule 1 below; and
3. introduces Bus Lanes along the lengths of road set out in Schedule 2 below.

The Order together with plans and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, may be examined online at: www.gateshead.gov.uk/trafficschemes (Ref: IKEN/017468) or at the information desk on the ground floor of Gateshead Council’s Civic Centre, Regent Street, Gateshead, NE8 1HH Monday to Thursday between 8:45am and 5:00pm and Friday between 8:45am and 4:30pm. If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under them has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order is made, apply to the High Court for that purpose.
