Dipton Mill, Temporary Road Closure Due To Rectify Flooding
What is happening?
Northumberland County Council Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 -Section 14(1) C282 Dipton Mill Road, Hexham And C282 Whitley Chapel To Dipton Mill, Hexham (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council intends to make an Order to prohibit the use by vehicular traffic on that section of the C282 Dipton Mill Road from its junction with the U8296 heading south for a length of 1,390 metres and the C282 Whitley Chapel to Dipton Mill from its junction with the U8074 heading south west for a length of 910 metres in the County of Northumberland.
The Order is to be effective from the 8th April 2024 until the 24th May 2024.
It is expected that the road will only be closed from the 8th April 2024 until the 2nd May 2024 however the road will be closed at all times during this period and the road may remain closed until 24th May 2024.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the C282, the C278, the C280, the B6306, the B6307, the A695, the A6079, the U8291, the U8288, the U8290, the B6531, the B6305, the B6306 and vice versa.

The closure has been requested by Northumberland County Council to rectify flooding and to stop silt being deposited on the road and to remove tree stumps and overlay the road, in addition Northumbrian Water will install a new water main. In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of the Order.
