What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Potters Lane, Wednesbury) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Potters Lane between Perry Street and the entrance to the Midland Metro Alliance Compound. Diversion routes will be signed as follows: access to the western side of Potters Lane via Holyhead Road, Dudley Street and Potters Lane, and access to the eastern side of Potters Lane via Victoria Street, Holyhead Road and Bridge Street. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 29/03/2024 effective from 22/03/2024 (8pm – 5am only). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Perry Street, Tipton) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Perry Street between Park Lane East and the extended line of the rear fence to No.31 Park Lane East. Traffic will be diverted via Perry Street, Barnett Street, Park Lane East and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 25/03/2024. Purpose – to facilitate the rectification ofacarriageway defect following on from previous works by CASS Ltd (working on behalf of British Telecom). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Grange Road, Smethwick) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Grange Road between Waterloo Road for a distance of 30 metres in an easterly direction. Diversion routes will be signed as follows: to the north of the closure via Waterloo Road and Sycamore Road. To the south of the closure via Sycamore Road, Dorset Road, Willow Avenue, Sandon Road, Bearwood Road and Waterloo Road. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 26/03/2024 effective from 25/03/2024 (9.30am - 3.30pm only). Purpose – to facilitate the laying of a new track and building ofanew telecoms chamber by Vodafone. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Queen’s Road, Smethwick) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along the following lengths of Queens Road: Queens Road from its junction with Basons Lane foradistance of 40 metres in a southerly direction (anticipated dates 28/03/2024 – 19/04/2024). Queen’s Road from its junction with Warley Road roundabout for a distance of 50 metres inanortherly direction (anticipated dates 03/05/2024 – 17/05/2024). Diversion routes will be signed for both road closures: on the western side of the closures via Warley Road, Basons Lane and vice-versa. On the eastern side of the closures via Manor Road, Londonderry Lane and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 17/05/2024 effective from 28/03/2024. Purpose – to facilitate works to replace old cast iron gas mains by Cadent Gas Ltd. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Simpson Street and McKean Road, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closures) Order 2024 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Simpson Street/McKean Road from the access road (northern side) to the Oldbury Health Centre to outside property No.124 McKean Road and Simpson Street, which will be closed from the junction of Birmingham Street to the access road (southern side) to the Oldbury Health Centre. Access to any affected frontages, including the Health Centre, will be maintained but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Birmingham Street, Oldbury Ringway, Birmingham Road, Broadwell Road, Century Road and vice-versa (Simpson Street/McKean Road closures). A 2nd diversion route will be signed via Birmingham Street, Church Street, Bromford Road, Century Road and vice-versa (Simpson Street closure only). The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 05/04/2024 effective from 23/03/2024 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access to lay a duct for new 132KV electrical service cable by Excalon on behalf of National Grid Electricity Distribution.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Station Road, Oldbury) (Temporary Road and Footway Closures) Order 2024 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Station Road between the junctions of Western Road (eastern side) and Thompson Road (western side). The order also temporarily prohibits pedestrians proceeding along Station Road as detailed in the location above. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted and will be signed via Crosswells Road, Vicarage Road, Tat Bank Road, Western Road and vice-versa. A pedestrian diversion route will be signed via Thompson Road, New Henry Street, Langley Green Road, Mill Lane and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 24/03/2024 effective from 23/03/2024 (10pm – 9am). Purpose – to facilitate access for the renewal of a level crossing pedestal by Network Rail.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Baldwin Street, Smethwick) (Temporary Road Closure) and (Soho Way, Smethwick) (Temporary No Right Turn Restriction) Order 2024 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Baldwin Street from the junction of Soho Way to the gable end of property No.4, and temporarily prohibits vehicles from turning right from Soho Way (eastbound) to Baldwin Street. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. A traffic diversion route for access to Baldwin Street will be signed via Soho Way (eastbound), Soho Way (westbound), Crocketts Lane, Brook Street and Cutler Street. A traffic diversion route for access to Soho Way from Baldwin Street will be signed via Cutler Street, Brook Street and Crocketts Lane. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 23/04/2024 effective from 25/03/2024 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access for cycle route works to install a new kerb line along Soho Way and a raised carriageway crossing point in Baldwin Street at the junction of Soho Way, by Fitzgerald Civil Engineering Contractors on behalf of Sandwell MBC.
