M20 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 7) – TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the M20 Motorway in the County of Kent under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on an adjoining roundabout by contractors working on behalf of Kent County
Council.

The effect of the Order is (at M20 Junction 7(A249)) to: -

1. impose a 24-hour 50mph speed restriction on –
(a) the road leading from the London-bound carriageway of the M20, from the tip of the nosing of its divergence from the said carriageway to a point approximately 300 metres west;
(b) the road leading from the coast-bound carriageway of the M20, from a point approximately 340 metres east of the tip of the nosing of its divergence from the said carriageway to its junction with the roundabout;
(c) the fast link road connecting from the road leading from the coast-bound carriageway of the M20 to the northbound carriageway of the A249; and

(d) the fast link road connecting from the northbound carriageway of the A249 to the road leading to the London-bound carriageway of the M20, from the southernmost divergence from the said carriageway to a point approximately 200 metres north; and

2. impose a 24-hour 40mph speed restriction on –
(a) the road leading from the London-bound carriageway of the M20, from a point approximately 300 metres west of the tip of the nosing of its divergence from the said carriageway to its junction with the roundabout;
(b) the fast link road connecting from the northbound carriageway of the A249 to the road leading to the London-bound carriageway of the M20, from a point approximately 200 metres north of the southernmost divergence from the said carriageway to a point approximately 85 metres west of that point; and
(c) the road leading from the roundabout to the London-bound carriageway of the M20, from its exit point from the roundabout to a point approximately 60 metres west.

These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake resurfacing of the roundabout at M20 Junction 7 (A249).

It is expected that the work will last for approximately 3 weeks in two phases starting on or after Monday 8th April 2024.

No diversions apply.

The temporary speed limits will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
