Temporary Traffic Order - A23 London Road, Preston Road, Beaconsfield Road And Stanford Avenue, Brighton
1. NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council have on the 13 March 2024 made an Order pursuant to powers in Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which has the following effect:-
Phase 1A
(a) The temporary Northbound closure of the A23 London Road and Preston Road from a point approximately 50 metres south of Preston Circus and the junction of New England Road to a point approximately 60 metres north of Preston Circus and the junction of New England Road.
(b) For the duration of the temporary Northbound closure the A23, it will also be necessary to close New England Road at its junction with Preston Circus.
(c) For the duration of the temporary Northbound closure the A23, it will also be necessary to ban the right hand turn movement from Beaconsfield Road onto New England Road.
Phase 1B
(d) The temporary southbound closure of the A23 Beaconsfield Road and London Road from Ditchling Rise to Rose Hill Terrace.
(e) For the Duration of the temporary southbound closure of the A23, i t will be necessary to close Viaduct Road at its junction with Preston Circus, and suspend the one-way order on Viaduct Road for it's entire length for access.
(f) For the Duration of the temporary southbound closure of the A23, it will be necessary to close Beaconsfield Road from its junction with Stanford Road to its junction with Springfield Road.
(g) For the Duration of the temporary southbound closure of the A23, it will be necessary to close Stanford Avenue, southwest bound from Rugby Road to Florence Road.
Phase 2
(h) The temporary closure of the A23 London Road, from St Peter's Place to Preston Circus
(i) For the Duration of the temporary closure of the A23 during this phase, it will be necessary to suspend the one-way orders on the following roads for access; Rose Hill Terrace, Kingsbury Road, Baker Street, Francis Street, Oxford Street, Oxford Place, and Queens Place
2. The Order is necessary to allow contractors to carry out resurfacing works.
Pedestrian access will be maintained, and a signed diversion route will be in place for Vehicular traffic.
3. This Order comes into force on 18 March 2024 for eighteen months or until such sooner time as the works are completed, which is anticipated to be 28 March 2024.
