What is happening?

The Surrey County Council

College Road (A2022), Longdown Lane North (C193), and Longdown Lane South (B288) Epsom Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024

On 13 March 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of; (a) College Road (A2022) Epsom as extends from its junction with (C193) Longdown Lane North and (B288) Longdown Lane South and for a distance of 20 metres either side; (b) Longdown Lane North (C193) Ewell as extends from its junction with (A2022) College Road and (B288) Longdown Lane South and for a distance of 20 metres in a northerly direction; (c) Longdown Lane South (B288) Epsom as extends from its junction with (A2022) College Road and (C193) Longdown Lane North and for a distance of 20 metres in a southerly direction. This Order is required to facilitate:

1. Removal and replacement of mains gas works for, or on behalf of SGN. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 23 days, between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Friday, 8am and 4pm on Saturdays, and 9am and 4pm on Sundays, and will commence on 29 March 2024.

2. Reprofiling the junction and upgrading the traffic signals and crossings for, or on behalf of Surrey County Council These works are anticipated to be carried out over 10 weeks, between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Friday, 8am and 4pm on Saturdays, and 9am and 4pm on Sundays, and will commence on 01 July 2024.

Alternative Route: (a) (A2022) College Road, (A2022) Alexandra Road, (A2022) Upper High Street, (B284) Church Street, (B284) Burgh Heath Road, (B291) Fir Tree Road, (A240) Reigate Road, and (A2022) College Road; (b) Longdown Lane North, (A240) Reigate Road, (B291) Fir Tree Road, (B284) Burgh Heath Road, and (B288) Longdown Lane South, or this route in reverse.

These works are anticipated to be carried out during the 18-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 29 March 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in force 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

Due to the nature of the works, it will not be possible to maintain vehicular access through the closure, and all vehicular traffic, including the emergency services will be required to use the signed diversion route. No sole access will be affected by this closure.

Higher Green (D2206) Ewell Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024

On 13 March 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Higher Green (D2206) Ewell.

This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate footway slurry works and/or maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed within 2 days, between 7am and 5pm, during the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 18 March 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle's owner. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times.

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained when safe to do so and if necessary via the signed diversion route. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period. Alternative Route - D2425 Wallace Fields, D2453 Windmill Lane, B288 Mill Road, B288 Bridge Road, A2022 Alexandra Road, A2022 College Road and C193 Longdown Lane North.

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 - Section 14 (1) Extension to the Surrey County Council Church Street (B284) Epsom Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

"The Surrey County Council Church Street (B284) Epsom Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023", which was made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, on the grounds that works were being or proposed to be executed on, or near, the above-mentioned road and came into operation on 11 April 2023 was due to expire on 10 April 2024 and which prohibited vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Church Street (B284) Epsom as extends from its junction with (D2116) Depot Road to its access point with the entrance to "Pit Place" Church Street has been extended by Surrey County Council until 10 October 2024. This Temporary Traffic Order is required to allow installation of road table works and/or any other associated works to be carried out for, or on behalf of Surrey County Council.

These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible within the additional 6-month period operation of this Temporary Traffic Order which commenced on 10 April 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in force 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists.

All other traffic will be required to follow the alternative route described below. Alternative Route: (B284) Church Street, (A24) High Street, (A24) Ashley Road, (B290) Ashley Road, (B290) Tattenham Corner Road, and (B289) Downs Road, or this route in reverse.

Various Roads in Epsom and Ewell Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2024

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate footway slurry works, resurfacing of carriageway and/or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 8 April 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle's owner. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times.

1. that length of A232 Cheam Road, Ewell which extends from its junction with A240 Ewell By-Pass to its junction with D2313 Nonsuch Walk. Access for buses may be affected. Alternative Route - A24 Ewell By-Pass, A240 Reigate Road, A2022 Fir Tree Road, A217 Brighton Road, A217 Brighton Road, A232 Ewell Road, A232 Cheam Road and A232 Cheam Road; 2. that length of D2202 Woodcote Green Road, Epsom which extends from its junction with D2268 Woodcote Side to its junction with D2202 Woodcote Road. Alternative Route - D2268 Woodcote Side, A24 Dorking Road and D2202 Woodcote Road.
