What is happening?

London Borough Of Tower Hamlets - Traffic Management Order The Tower Hamlets (Brick Lane) (Parking Places) (Map Based) (Experimental) Order 2024, The Tower Hamlets

(Brick Lane) (Waiting Loading And Stopping Restrictions) (Map Based) (Experimental) Order 2024

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets on 14 March 2024 made the above-mentioned Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 (as amended).

2. The general effect of the experimental Orders will be to introduce experimental measures to provide shared use Loading and Solo Motorcycle parking bays on Brick Lane:

(PTO 2184) on Brick Lane:

a) To convert the existing Loading Only parking bay outside Nos.52-54 Brick Lane to a shared use parking bay for Loading (restricted to 20 mins and no return in 1 hour) and Solo Motorcycles operating 8.30am to 7pm Mon to Fri and Sunday 8.30am to 2pm.

b) To convert the existing Police Vehicles Only parking bay outside Nos.23-25 Brick Lane to a shared use parking bay for Loading (restricted to 20 mins and no return in 1 hour) and Solo Motorcycles operating 8.30am to 7pm Mon to Fri and Sunday 8.30am to 2pm.

3. A copy of the Orders, which will come into operation on 21 March 2024 and all relevant documents, can be obtained by emailing: parking.TMO@towerhamlets.gov.uk until the end of six weeks from the date on which the Orders were made.

4. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any relevant requirements thereof or any regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within six weeks of the date on which the Orders were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.

5. The Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Experimental Order should be continued in force indefinitely. Any person wishing to make relevant comments or objections to such indefinite continuation of the provisions, may within a period of six months from 14th March 2024, (or if these Orders is varied by another Order or modified pursuant to section 10(2) of the Act, six months from the day on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification came into force) in writing and must state the grounds on which it is made and sent to - Parking and Mobility Services, London Borough of Tower Hamlets, 585-593 Commercial Road, London E1 0HJ or via email to the address in paragraph 3 above.
