(Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2024
The Scottish Borders Council (Port Brae, Peebles) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2024 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force on 18 March 2024 and is expected to remain in effect for a period of one day between the hours of 09:00 and 15:00. The Order is required for Scottish Water work.
When the Order comes into effect no person shall
(i) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle; and
(ii) permit any vehicle to wait or to be parked, along Port Brae, Peebles from the B7062 to Number 2 Tweed Green.
The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via the B7062, High Street, Eastgate and Tweedbrae to the point of closure.

(Experimental Traffic Regulation) Order 2024
The Scottish Borders Council made the above Order on 12 March 2024 in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to said Act and having complied with the statutory requirements of The Local Authorities'Traffic Orders (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 1999, as amended. The Order will be experimental and will remain initially in operation for a period of no less than six months.
The effect of the Order, which comes into operation on 22 March 2024, will be to prohibit motor vehicles waiting (loading and unloading permitted) at any time in lengths of Peebles Road (A72), St Ronan's Terrace, Traquair Road (B709), and Miller Street in Innerleithen, in the interests of public and road safety and traffic management.
A copy of the Experimental Order as made, together with maps showing said lengths of road and a Statement of the Council's Reasons for making the Experimental Order may be examined at Traffic and Road Safety, Network, Environment and Infrastructure, The Scottish Borders Council, Newtown St Boswells, Melrose, from Mondays to Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and also at the Council's Library Contact Centre, Buccleuch Street, Innerleithen, EH44 6LA during normal working hours.
The Scottish Borders Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Experimental Order should be made permanent Any person wishing to object to the making of a permanent Order should send details of the grounds of objection in writing to the Director of Corporate Governance, Council Headquarters, Newtown St Boswells, Melrose, TD6 0SA, by 22 September 2024.
