What is happening?

West Sussex County Council

(Ashington: Malthouse Lane) 

(Temporary Night-Time Closure) Order 2024 Notice is hereby given that not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice West Sussex County Council intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to close Malthouse Lane between Spring Gardens and the entrance to the Wiston Business Park.

The Order is necessary to protect public safety whilst surface water drainage works are undertaken.

The Order will come into effect on 2 April 2024 and will last for 18 months or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is earlier. It is anticipated the works will commence on or after 2 April 2024 between 2000 hours and 0600 hours and will take 8 weeks to complete.

(Rusper: Public Footpath No. 1492) 

(Temporary Closure) Order 2023

NOTICE is hereby given that the Order made by West Sussex County Council under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and which originally came into force on 18 September 2023, with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport, will now continue in force until 18 March 2025.

The Order is necessary to protect public safety due to a landslip having halted planned resurfacing works and making the path unsafe to use

The effect of the Order remains unchanged and is to prohibit any person from proceeding along a length of Public Footpath No. 1492 Rusper, from its junction with Friday Street (TQ185369), eastwards to its junction with High Street (TQ205373), a distance of approximately 2.3 kilometres.

Unfortunately there is no alternative routes available using the Public Rights of Way network.

(Rudgwick: Haven Road, Naldretts Lane & The Haven)

(40mph Speed Limit) Order 2024

NOTICE is hereby given that West Sussex County Council proposes to introduce a permanent Order under the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to extend the 40mph speed limit on Haven Road so that it runs between the A281 Guildford Road and the A29 Stane Street and to introduce a 40mph speed limit on the entire length of Naldretts Lane. Full details of the proposals in this Notice can be viewed on our website www.westsussex.gov.uk/tro. The website includes a response form for comments or objections.

Paper copies of documents will not be available to view in council offices or libraries. People without access to a computer who wish to view details of the scheme should telephone the West Sussex County Council Contact Centre on 01243 642105 to receive the documents by post.

(Rudgwick: A281 Guildford Road) 

(40mph Speed Limit) Order 2024

NOTICE is hereby given that West Sussex County Council proposes to introduce a permanent Order under the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to introduce a 40mph speed limit on the length of the A281 Guildford Road from the Surrey County boundary to the existing 30mph speed limit in Bucks Green and on the northern extent of Tismans Common south of the A281.
