What is happening?

SOMERSET COUNCIL
VARIOUS ROADS, PILTON PARISH OF PILTON
(20MPH, 30MPH AND 50MPH SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is hereby given that Somerset Council proposes to make the above Order in pursuance of the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which is to introduce 20mph, 30mph and 50mph speed limits on the lengths of road as specified in the Schedules to this Notice. The provisions of any other orders are hereby revoked but only as far as they are affected by the restrictions by this Order.
A copy of the draft Order, the maps showing the lengths of road affected and the Statement of Reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected online at www.somerset.gov.uk/TRO. Any person wishing to make representations or to object to the proposed Order should send a statement in writing of their representations or objection and state the grounds on which it is made to Somerset Council, via email to TROinbox@somerset.gov.uk quoting Reference No. ET23022024 and received no later than 21 days from the publication of this notice. The names and addresses of anyone writing in may be made available for public inspection and will be included in a report that may be published on the Somerset Council website, unless the individuals concerned state, in writing, their objection to their names and addresses being made so available or being included in the publication.

SCHEDULE 1 - 20MPH SPEED LIMIT
A361 Park Hill, Pilton – from a point 30 metres southwest of its junction with Parsons Batch to the junction with the A361 Whitstone Hill
A361 Whitstone Hill, Pilton – from the junction with the A361 Park Hill in a north easterly direction to a point 200 metres west of its junction with Top Street
Higher Westholme Road, Pilton – from its junction with the A361 Whitstone Hill in a north westerly direction to a point 30 metres west of its junction with Hartley Cottages Totterdown Lane, Pilton – from its junction with the A361 Whitstone Hill in a northerly direction for 280 metres
Pylle Road, Pilton – from its junctions with Mount Pleasant, Bread Street and Bakery Lane in a southerly direction to a point 120 metres west of its junction with Copse Lane Neat Lane, Pilton – from its junction with Lower Street in a northerly direction to a point 300 metres northeast of its junction with John Burns Cottages
The following roads for their entire lengths: Parsons Batch, Pilton; Shop Lane, Pilton; Cumhill Lane, Pilton; St Marys Lane, Pilton; Abbots Way, Pilton; Top Street, Pilton; Bread Street, Pilton; Ford Lane, Pilton; Bakery Lane, Pilton; John Beales Hill, Pilton; Mount Pleasant, Pilton; Lower Street, Pilton; John Burns Cottages, Pilton; Shutwell Lane, Pilton; Oathill Cottages, Pilton; Worthy Lane, Pilton; Crown Lane, Pilton; Hartley Cottages, Pilton; and Barrow Lane, Pilton

SCHEDULE 2 - 30MPH SPEED LIMIT
Copse Lane, Pilton – for its entire length
Pylle Road, Pilton – from a point 120 metres west of its junction with Copse Lane in an easterly direction to a point 100 metres east of its junction with Cockmill Lane
Cockmill Lane, Pilton – from its junction with Pylle Road in a southerly direction for 50 metres
A361 Park Hill, Pilton – from a point 30 metres southwest of its junction with Parsons Batch in a south westerly direction for a distance of 490 metres
A361 Whitstone Hill, Pilton – from a point 200 metres west of its junction with Top Street in an easterly direction to a point 180 metres east of its junction with Neat Lane Neat Lane, Pilton – from its junctions with the A361 Whitstone Hill and the A361 East Compton Road in a southerly direction to a point 300 metres northwest of its junction with John Burns Cottages
Lamberts Hill, Pilton – from its junction with the A361 Whitstone Hill in a northerly direction for a distance of 30 metres
Higher Westholme Road, Pilton – from a point 30 metres west of its junction with Hartley Cottages in a westerly direction for a distance of 100 metres

SCHEDULE 3 - 50MPH SPEED LIMIT
A361 East Compton Road, Pilton from a point 900 metres east of its junction with Lamberts Hill in an easterly direction for 900 metres
STATEMENT OF REASONS FOR PROPOSING TO MAKE THE ORDER
For avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
