BIX AND ASSENDON PARISH SPEED LIMITS
What is happening?
(BIX AND ASSENDON PARISH) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 20**
NOTICE is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above
order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.
The effect of the order – in support of road safety issues – is to introduce a
20mph speed limit within Bix (including Lower & Middle Assendon), replacing
the majority of the existing 30mph speed limit in the process, leading out to
the following points:
A. Bix:
1. Rectory Lane – a point 145 metres north of its junction with White Lane,
2. Old Bix Road – its junction with the A4130.
B. Lower Assendon:
3. B480 Lower Assendon – a point 65 metres northwest of the A4130,
4. B480 Middle Assendon – a point 40 metres northwest of the access to
‘Longacre’,
5. The unnamed Lower Assendon – Fawley road leading to Round Hill – a
point 100 metres north of bridleway No.130/23/10, leading eastwards
through Henley Park.
C. Middle Assendon:
6. B480 Middle Assendon:
a. Southern end – a point 85 metres southeast of its junction with the
private drive to ‘Pytt Lodge’,
b. Northern end – a point 39 metres north of the unnamed road leading to
Bix Bottom,
7. Fawley Bottom Lane – a point 162 metres east of the B480,
8. The unnamed road leading to Bix Bottom – a point 171 metres west of its
northern junction with the B480.
A section of existing 30mph speed limit on the B480 between Lower & Middle
Assendon will remain, with Officers having taken the current road environment
& traffic usage into account. The current 40mph speed limit on the A4130
remains unaffected by these proposals.
The Oxfordshire County Council (Bix and Assendon Parish) (Speed Limits)
Order 2011 will be revoked/replaced as necessary.
Documents giving more details of the proposals are available for public
inspection online by visiting: https://letstalk.oxfordshire.gov.uk Copies may be
made available on request.
Objections to the proposals and other representations specifying the grounds
on which they are made may be sent in writing to the address below by the
end of 5 April 2024. The Council will consider objections and representations
received in response to this Notice. They may be disseminated widely for
these purposes and made available to the public. (Ref: CM/12.6.130)
