Melbourne Road - Temporary Traffic Prohibition

What is happening?

THE EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL
(MELBOURNE ROAD, THORNTON (PART)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH
TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has made an Order the
effect of which is to prohibit any person from causing
any vehicle to proceed along part of Melbourne Road,
Thornton for approximately 100 metres North of the
Access Road to the Electricity Sub Station. The reason
for the closure is to enable the proposed new water
connection works, to be carried out and completed in a
manner consistent with ensuring the safety of the public.
It is anticipated that the works will be completed within
three days. The alternative route for traffic affected by
the Order is via Melbourne Road, Main Street, Hodsow
Lane Roundabout, York Road, Hodsow Lane, York Road
Service Road, Hayton Layby, Shipton Lane, Holme Road,
Gallymoor Roundabout, Market Weighton Road, New
Road, High Street, Selby Road, Road from Foss Dyke
to Major Bridge, Main Road, Highfield Road, Northfield
Road, Birk Lane, Hankins Lane, Long Rampart, Fog
Lane, General Lane, Ash Lane, Seaton Common Lane,
Everingham Road and Common Road. The road will be
closed to all traffic, but access will be maintained at all
times for emergency services and pedestrians.
The Order will commence 25 March 2024 and
continue in force for a period not exceeding eighteen
months or until the works which it is proposed to carry
out have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
