Durham Road And Calderwood Crescent - Required To Enable Resurfacing Works

What is happening?

THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD 
(DURHAM ROAD AND CALDERWOOD CRESCENT, LOW FELL) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Borough Council of Gateshead proposes to make an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to introduce the following temporary overnight restrictions:

 i) 10mph speed limit on Durham Road from the end of Harlow Green intersection northbound entry slip to a point 100 metres south of Ivy Lane for a distance of 710 metres; and
 ii) road closure to Durham Road (southbound carriageway) 100 metres south of Ivy Lane for a distance of 470 metres to Harlow Green intersection exit slip.

The Order is required to enable resurfacing works to be carried out on the highway. It is proposed the Order will come into force at 20:00 on 22 March 2024. The maximum duration of the Order will be 18 months, however that works are expected to be completed by 06:00 on the 25 March 2024. The restrictions shall only apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the works there will be a signed diversion in place.
