Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
THANET AREA
A255 RAMSGATE ROAD, BROADSTAIRS, CT10 1PU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of A255 Ramsgate Road, Broadstairs, on or after 21st March 2024 for up to 4 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions of Yarrow Close and The Vale, between the hours of 19:00 and 06:00 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A255 Queens Road, A255 High Street, A255 The Broadway, A255 St Peters Road, A255 Broadstairs Road, Fairfield Road, Bromstone Road, A255 Ramsgate Road and vice versa.
A255 RAMSGATE ROAD, BROADSTAIRS, CT10 1PR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of A255 Ramsgate Road, Broadstairs, on or after 2nd April 2024 for up to 11 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 50. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A255 Queens Road, A255 High Street, A255 The Broadway, A255 St Peters Road, A255 Broadstairs Road, Fairfield Road, Bromstone Road, A255 Ramsgate Road and vice versa.
B2052 COLLEGE ROAD, MARGATE, CT9 4AS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of B2052 College Road, Margate, on or after 2nd April 2024 for up to 13 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions of Ulster Road and Connaught Road. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A254 Ramsgate Road, A254 Margate Road, A256 Westwood Road, A255 Dane Court Road, A255 St Peters Road, B2052 College Road and vice versa.
ARCHWAY ROAD, RAMSGATE, CT11 9EX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow drainage works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Archway Road, Ramsgate, on or after 18th March 2024 for up to 8 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed the entire length. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route. Every effort will be made to maintain access for residents whenever it is safe to do so.
BERESFORD ROAD, RAMSGATE, CT11 9EW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Beresford Road, Ramsgate, on or after 18th March 2024 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 12. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Beresford Road, Elms Avenue, Queen Street, West Cliff Road, Vale Square, Marlborough Road and vice versa.
CHURCH STREET, BROADSTAIRS, CT10 2FQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow street lighting works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Church Street, Broadstairs, on or after 1st April 2024 for up to 1 day or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions of B2053 Albion Road and Northdown Road, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2053 Albion Road, B2053 St Peters Park Road, A255 St Peters Road, A255 Broadstairs Road, Vicarage Street, Church Street and vice versa.
EBBSFLEET LANE NORTH, RAMSGATE, CT12 5DN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow railway works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Ebbsfleet Lane North, Ramsgate, on or after 3rd April 2024 for up to 7 hours or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the crossing, between the hours of 23:00 and 06:00 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route. Every effort will be made to maintain access for residents whenever it is safe to do so.
EGBERT ROAD, MINSTER, CT12 4DQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow roadworks to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Egbert Road, Minster, on or after 2nd April 2024 for up to 4 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions of Augustine Road and Monkton Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Augustine Road, Freemans Road, Monkton Road and vice versa.
GRANGE ROAD, RAMSGATE, CT11 0QG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Grange Road, Ramsgate, on or after 1st April 2024 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 171. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A255 High Street, A255 Nethercourt Hill, B2054 London Road, Grange Road and vice versa.
IVY COTTAGE HILL & WAY HILL, MINSTER, CT12 4HU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Ivy Cottage Hill & Way Hill, Minster, on or after 1st April 2024 for up to 80 days or until the works have been completed.
Ivy Cottage Hill will be closed from 1st April 2024, with estimated completion by 19th June 2024, outside Mill House. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route. Every effort will be made to maintain access for residents whenever it is safe to do so.
Way Hill will be closed from 20th May 2024, with estimated completion by 19th June 2024, from Mill House, to the junction with Ivy Cottage Hill. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Way Hill, Thorne Hill, Grinsell Hill and vice versa.
MONKTON ROAD, MINSTER, CT12 4DQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Monkton Road, Minster, on or after 18th March 2024 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from number 44 to number 46, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Monkton Street, Willetts Hill, A299 Canterbury Road West, Tothill Street and vice versa.
TRINITY SQUARE, MARGATE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Trinity Square, Margate, on or after 20th March 2024 for up to 6 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions of B2055 Trinity Square and Albion Place. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Trinity Square, B2051 Fort Crescent, B2055 Zion Place, B2055 Northdown Road, Northdown Road, B2055 Northdown Road, B2055 Trinity Square and vice versa.
WEST CLIFF ROAD, RAMSGATE, CT11 9JN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of West Cliff Road, Ramsgate, on or after 3rd April 2024 for up to 7 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside 4 Cannon Mews. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via West Cliff Road, B2054 Grange Road, B2054 St Augustines Road, B2054 Paragon, B2054 Royal Parade, Leopold Street, Queen Street and vice versa.
VARIOUS ROADS, MARGATE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow resurfacing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Various Roads, Margate, until the works have been completed.
Cecil Square will be closed from 2nd April 2024 with estimated completion by 9th April 2024. Between the junctions of B2055 Cecil Street and Queen Street, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2055 Hawley Street, B2055 Trinity Square, B2055 Northdown Road, B2055 Zion Place, B2051 Fort Crescent, B2051 Fort Hill, B2051 The Parade, B2051 Marine Drive, A28 Marine Terrace and vice versa.
Queen Street will be closed from 2nd April 2024 with estimated completion by 9th April 2024. Between the junctions of Cecil Square and Marine Gardens, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2055 Hawley Street, B2055 Trinity Square, B2055 Northdown Road, B2055 Zion Place, B2051 Fort Crescent, B2051 Fort Hill, B2051 The Parade, B2051 Marine Drive, A28 Marine Terrace and vice versa.
Marine Gardens will be closed from 2nd April 2024 with estimated completion by 9th April 2024. Between the junctions of Queen Street and A254 Belgrave Road, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2055 Hawley Street, B2055 Trinity Square, B2055 Northdown Road, B2055 Zion Place, B2051 Fort Crescent, B2051 Fort Hill, B2051 The Parade, B2051 Marine Drive, A28 Marine Terrace and vice versa.
B2055 Cecil Street will be closed 18th June 2024 with estimated completion by 27th June 2024. Between the junctions of New Street and B2055 Hawley Square, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any Northbound through traffic is via B2055 Hawley Street, B2055 Trinity Square, B2055 Northdown Road, B2055 Zion Place, B2051 Fort Crescent, B2051 Fort Hill, B2051 The Parade, B2051 Marine Drive, A28 Marine Terrace, A254 Belgrave Road, A254 Eaton Road, A255 Grosvenor Gardens, B2055 Churchfields, B2055 Churchfield Place and B2055 Hawley Square.
The alternative route for any Southbound through traffic is via B2055 Hawley Square, B2055 Churchfield Place, B2055 Churchfields, A255 High Street, A255 Ramsgate Road, A254 Queens Avenue, A254 Eaton Road, A254 Belgrave Road, A28 Marine Terrace, B2051 Marine Drive, B2051 The Parade, B2051 Fort Hill, B2051 Fort Crescent, B2055 Zion Place, B2055 Northdown Road, B2055 Trinity Square and B2055 Hawley Street.
THANET, CANTERBURY & SWALE AREAS
A299 THANET WAY, CANTERBURY, SWALE & THANET. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPENSION OF ENVIRONMENTAL WEIGHT LIMIT) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow annual High Speed Road maintenance works to be carried out Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A299 Thanet Way, Brenley Corner to Monkton, in phased overnight closures between 19:00 hours and 05:00 hours.
The proposed dates are as follows but are subject to change due to other planned work in the area. Amendments will be sent out as necessary.
The planned dates of closures, extents of roads affected and alternative routes are as shown below:-
15th July 2024: Night 1:- From M2 Brenley Corner to A290 Clapham Hill, Whitstable - TOTAL CLOSURE Coast bound only.
The alternative route is via A2 Boughton Bypass, Dover Road, A2050 Harbledown Bypass, Palmars Cross Hill, Rough Common Road, A290 Whitstable Road, A290 Tile Kiln Hill, A290 Blean Hill, A290 Blean Common, A290 Honey Hill, A290 Pean Hill and A290 Clapham Hill to rejoin A299.
Traffic from Whitstable Road (Graveney), Waterham Road and Highstreet Road will be diverted London-bound to Brenley Corner to join the main diversion.
16th July 2024: Night 2:- From A290 Clapham Hill, Whitstable to M2 Brenley Corner - TOTAL CLOSURE London bound only.
Alternative route is as previous night, but in reverse.
Traffic from Pilgrims Lane, Dargate Road, Highstreet Road, Plumpudding Lane, Fostall and Staple Street will be diverted coast bound to Brenley Corner to join the main diversion.
The 7.5T Environmental Weight Limit Order on Rough Common Road and Palmars Cross Hill will be suspended to allow the use of these roads for diversions.
17th and 18th July 2024: Nights 3 and 4:- Closed from A2990 Thanet Way off slip to A299 Margate Road off slip – TOTAL CLOSURE in both directions in conjunction with Chestfield Tunnel maintenance.
Alternative routes East bound is via A299Thanet Way off slip, A2990 Thanet Way and A299 Thanet Way slip on.
West bound is via Margate Road off slip, A291 Canterbury Road, A2990 Thanet Way, A290 Clapham Hill and A299 Thanet Way on slip.
19th July 2024 & 22nd July 2024: Night 5 and 6:- Herne Bay off slip to St Nicholas at Wade roundabout - TOTAL CLOSURE Coastbound only.
Alternative route is via A291 Canterbury Road, A291 Herne Street, A291 Canterbury Road, A291 Calcott Hill, A291 Herne Bay Road, A291 Sturry Hill, A28 Island Road, A28 Staines Hill, A28 Island Road and A28 Canterbury Road to rejoin A299.
23rd July & 24th July 2024: Night 7 and 8:- St Nicholas at Wade roundabout to A291 Herne Bay on slip - TOTAL CLOSURE London bound only.
Alternative route is as above, but in reverse.
25th July 2024: Night 9:- St Nicholas at Wade roundabout to Monkton roundabout - TOTAL CLOSURE in both directions.
Alternative route is via A28 Canterbury Road, A253 Ramsgate Road, A253 Canterbury Road and vice versa.
The above dates may be subject to change if there are unresolvable clashes with the A299 Thanet Way, Whitstable carriageway reconstruction scheme also taking place in July, although that scheme is due to be completed prior to these works.
