What is happening?
EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 The East Sussex (U2236 Mountfield Road/Brassey Avenue, Eastbourne)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow Network Rail to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the
following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Mountfield Road/Brassey Avenue – 40 metres either side of the level crossing.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U2236 Mountfield Road – U2231 Mountfield Road roundabout – U2226 Lottbridge Drove, Marshall roundabout, Lottbridge Road – A2280 Cross Levels Way, Broadwater roundabout, Cross Levels Way, Upperton Farm roundabout, Cross Levels Way – A2021 Rodmill roundabout, Kings Drive – U2236 Decoy Drive, Nevill Avenue, Brassey Avenue and vice versa.
The Order commences 28 March 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken
as detailed below, depending upon the weather conditions;
Between 28 and 31 March 2024
Between 6 and 8 April 2024
Between 25 and 27 May 2024

The East Sussex (U7740 Southdown Avenue, Lower Willingdon) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure Southdown Avenue – for its entire length.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7930 Coppice Avenue – U7740 Oldfield Avenue, Downsview Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 13 March 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 13 and 25 March 2024 depending upon the weather conditions. The East Sussex (U2157 Avondale Road, Eastbourne)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Avondale Road – from the junction with U2157 Albion Road to the junction with U2155 Firle Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U2157 Albion Road, Western Road – U2155 Firle Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 14 March 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 14 and 20 March 2024 depending upon the weather conditions. The East Sussex (U2045 Grange Road, Eastbourne)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Grange Road – from the junction with C432 Meads Road to the junction with U2058 Furness Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C432 Meads Road – U2044 Grassington Road – U2058 Furness Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 13 March 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 13 and 15 March 2024 depending upon the weather conditions. The East Sussex (B2247 Dittons Road, Stone Cross)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Dittons Road – from the junction with U7245 Arun Way to the junction with U7322 Townsend Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2247 Dittons Road – A22 Golden Jubilee Way – B2191 Willingdon Drove – B2104 Friday Street, Lion Hill – B2247 Dittons Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 14 March 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 19:00hrs to 07:00hrs on 14 and 15 March 2024 depending upon the weather conditions. The East Sussex (U2126 Enys Road, Eastbourne)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;
Temporary Road Closures Enys Road;
Phase 1 – from the junction with U2108 St Annes Road to the junction with U2112 Selwyn Road.
Diversion via U2124 Arundel Road – U2108 St Annes Road and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 14 and 22 March 2024.
Phase 2 – from the junction with U2108 St Annes Road to the junction with U2120 Carew Road. Diversion via U2120 Carew Road, Hartfield Road – U2108 St Annes Road and vice versa. Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 14 and 22 March 2024.
Phase 3 – from the junction with U2120 Carew Road to the junction with A2021 Lewes Road. Diversion via U2120 Carew Road, Bedfordwell Road – A2021 Lewes Road and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 25 and 27 March 2024. A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.
The Order commences 14 March 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken as detailed above depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (Eastbourne) (Parking Places and Waiting, No Stopping and Loading Restrictions) Traffic Regulation Order 2021 Amendment No 1 2024 Notice is hereby given that East Sussex County Council have made the above Order, under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and all other enabling powers coming into operation on 11 March 2024 which introduces, amends and revokes various restrictions along the following lengths of roads:
Changes to Prohibition of Waiting At Any Time in the following roads: Belmore Road, Gore Park Road, Grand Parade Service Road, Langney Rise, Milfoil Drive, Milton Road, New Road.
Changes to Bus Stop Clearway No Stopping Except Local Buses in the following road: South Street.
Changes to Disabled Persons Parking Maximum stay 3 hours no return within 2 hours in the following roads: King Edwards Parade, Old Orchard Road.
Changes to Disabled Persons Parking Places in the following roads: Hawkhurst Close, Langney Rise, Marine Road, Tideswell Road.
Changes to Permit Holder Parking Places, Mon to Sat 8am-6pm in the following road: Langney Road.
Changes to Permit Holders or Pay and Display Mon to Sat 8am-6pm maximum stay 2 hours, no return within 1 hour in the following roads: Old Orchard Road, Seaside Road, South Street.
Changes to Pay and Display Mon to Sat 8am-6pm maximum stay 2 hours, no return within 1 hour in the following road: Grove Road.
Changes to Time Limited Mon – Sat 8am – 6pm, Max Stay 4 hours, No Return within 1 hour, from 1 April to 31 October in the following road: King Edwards Parade.
Changes to Loading/Unloading Only Mon to Sat 7am-7pm in the following road: South Street.
Introduction of Goods Vehicle Loading/Unloading Only At Any Time in the following road: Seaside Road.
Introduction of Prohibition of Waiting At Any Time in the following roads: Alverstone Close, Lindfield Road, Parkfield Avenue, The Vineries.
Introduction of Police Parking Places in the following road: Grove Road. Introduction of Disabled Persons Parking in the following roads: Longstone Road, St Aubyn’s Road.
Introduction of Disabled Persons Parking Maximum stay 3 hours no return within 2 hours in the following road: Bourne Street.
Removal of Loading/Unloading Only Mon to Sat 7am-7pm in the following road: Seaside Road.
Removal of Doctors Permit Holder Only bays in the following road: Green Street.
Removal of Disabled Persons Parking Places in the following road: Langney Road.
Removal of Police Parking Places in the following road: Old Orchard Road.
Removal of Time Limited Mon – Fri 8am – 6pm, Max Stay 2 hours, No Return within 1 hour in the following road: Old Orchard Road.
Removal of Permit Holder Parking Places, Mon to Sat 8am-6pm in the following road: Westfield Road.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act of 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of the Road Traffic Regulation Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may within six weeks of the date the Order is made, apply to the High Court for this purpose.

The above changes to the parking charges will come into effect from 2 April 2024 Charges apply on bank holidays, except for 25-26 December and 1 January.
