Charles Street, Willenhall - Temporary Road Closure

WALSALL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH CHARLES STREET, WILLENHALL (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024 

Notice is hereby given that Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to prevent any vehicle from proceeding in that length of carriageway of Charles Street, Willenhall that is situated between the two mini roundabouts from the junction with Ashmore Lake Way to the junction with A462 Clarkes Lane. A signed diversion route will be in operation for affected traffic and access to adjacent properties and for emergency vehicles will be maintained wherever it is safe and possible to do so. The alternative route for vehicles affected by this Order will be (for vehicles travelling in a northerly direction) via A462 Sandbeds Road, A462 High Road, A462 Straight Road, A462 Wesley Road, Coppice Lane, Lucknow Road, Ashmore Lake Road and Ashmore Lake Way, and (for vehicles travelling in a southerly direction) via A462 Clarkes Lane, B4464 Walsall Road, B4464 Walsall Street, Middle Piece Way, Lower Lichfield Street and Stringes Lane. This Order will come into operation on Saturday 16 March 2024 and will remain in force for a period of eighteen months or until the work is completed, whichever is earlier. The prohibition of traffic is appropriate to ensure that a contractor working on behalf of Severn Trent Water can undertake work on a sluice valve chamber in the carriageway in a manner that enhances the safety of both workforce and travelling public. Work is expected to take place from 0800 (8.00 am) on Saturday 16 March 2024 to 1600 (4.00 pm) on Sunday 17 March 2024. The Walsall Metropolitan Borough (Knightsbridge, Lucknow Road, Coppice Lane, Willenhall) (Weight Restriction) Order 1996, insofar as it relates to Coppice Lane and Lucknow Road is hereby temporarily suspended, on the dates and at the times the road is closed, in order that access to affected properties can be maintained.
