What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(U473 CULVERT LANE AND X9213 FERRETT LANE, NEWBURGH, WEST LANCASHIRE BOROUGH) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.

1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over the following lengths of highway in the West Lancashire Borough:- i. U473 Culvert Lane, Newburgh from X9213 Ferrett Lane, Newburgh to a point 20m South West of Ferrett Level Crossing.
ii. X9213 Ferrett Lane, Newburgh from U473 Culvert Lane, Newburgh to the property named Crossing Cottage.

2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.

3. The prohibition will be operative from 2330 hours on Sunday 17th March 2024 until 0630 hours on Saturday 23rd March 2024 or until completion of the works within this period. Pedestrian access for residents will be maintained.

4. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is not possible owing to the fact that U473 Culvert Lane, Newburgh and X9213 Ferret Lane, Newburgh are both no through roads.

The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow track renewal works at the level crossing to be carried out by Centurion Site Services on behalf of Network Rail.
