What is happening?

(Footpath 3, Sturmer) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 3, Sturmer in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Footpath 1 southeast for approximately 200 metres. The closure is scheduled to commence on 04 March 2024 to 31 August 2024 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while remedial works to stabilise the riverbank and improve the footpath surface is undertaken. The alternative route will be via Sturmer Footpath 1 and the old railway line which is now a parish promoted route and vice versa. The Order will come into effect on 04 March 2024 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
