What is happening?
BOROUGH OF ROCHDALE
LITTLEBOROUGH DEFINITVE FOOTPATHS LITFP229, LITFP232, LITFP233 AND LITFP234
TEMPORARY PUBLIC PATH CLOSURE ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Rochdale Borough Council intend, in not less than seven days, to make an Order, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along the following footpaths:
LitFp229: Todmorden Road (LitFp229) which starts along the route with Grid Ref: E394371 N417525 and runs in a generally north east direction for 325 metres to meet at the junction with the canal towpath at Grid Ref: E394680 N417596.
LitFp232: Todmorden Road at Grid Ref: E394680 N417596 and runs in a south easterly direction for 73 metres and continuing in an easterly direction for 139 metres to meet with footpaths LitFp233 and LitFp234.
LitFp233: The footpath, which starts at junction with LitFp232 and LitFp234 and runs in a generally north easterly direction for 197 metres to meet with the canal towpath at Grid Ref: E394609 N417349.
LitFp234: The footpath, which starts at the junction with LitFp233 and LitFp232, this runs in a generally southerly direction for 115 metres before turning in an easterly direction to the canal towpath at Grid ref: E394515 N417086.
The alternative route currently available for pedestrians starts on Todmorden Road at the junction with LitFp232 Grid Ref: E394268 N417331 and runs north along Todmorden Road until reaching LitFp225 at Grid Ref: E3994483 N417851, the diversion then continues to meander in a south easterly direction along LitFp225 and LitFp226 to the canal towpath at Grid ref: E394678 N417696, continuing south along the canal towpath until reaching the end of LitFp234 ant Grid ref: E394515 N417086.
The Order is required for drainage works and for an underground reservoir to be created. The closure is necessary to protect the public from danger posed by works.
The Order will be operative from 08:00 hours on 14th March 2024 until 24:00 hours on 13th September 2024.
