Saint Patrick’s Day Parade – Sunday 17 March 2024

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 – Section 16a (Special Events)

(Temporary Prohibition and Suspension of Traffic) Order 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Leeds City Council as traffic authority for the Leeds Metropolitan District intends in not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, prohibiting and restricting the use of certain roads by vehicles to facilitate the holding of the St Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday 17 March 2024. The event will require the closure of certain roads and road junctions and the suspension of Traffic Regulation Orders in Leeds City Centre.

The Order will come into effect at 18:00: hrs on Saturday 16 March 2024 and will continue in force until 13:00hrs on Sunday 17th March 2024. The roads to be closed and restricted are set out in the Schedule hereto and no person shall cause any vehicle to proceed in the length(s) of road specified in the Schedules (whilst the road closures are in place).

Where necessary local diversions will be in operation and will be signed as appropriate. The Order will not at any time prevent access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to any road to which the Order relates, or to any premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from, any such road.

SCHEDULE

PARADE ROUTE

The parade will commence on Great George Street and proceed in an easterly direction, turning right onto Albion Street and then turning right onto The Headrow. Thereafter, it will proceed in a westerly direction and turn left into Park Row. The parade will continue in a southerly direction along Park Row and turn left into Boar Lane, continuing in an easterly direction, before turning left into New Market Street and then onto Vicar Lane. It will continue in a northerly direction along Vicar Lane, before turning left into The Headrow, continuing in a westerly direction, before turning right onto Albion Street. Finally, it will turn left down Great George Street where the parade will terminate.
