Scotswood Road And Redheugh Bridge - Prohibit All Vehicles From Making A Right-Hand
What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE
(SCOTSWOOD ROAD AND REDHEUGH BRIDGE) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne intend, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to -
(a) prohibit all vehicles from proceeding on -
(i) A695 Scotswood Road westbound carriageway - from immediately west of the access road into the Leonardo Hotel (formerly Jury’s Inn), for 115 metres, to its junction with the A189 Redheugh Bridge southbound carriageway,
(ii) A695 Scotswood Road - from its junction with St James’ Boulevard in a south westerly direction for 100 metres towards Redheugh Bridge,
(iii) A695 Scotswood Road - from its junction with St James’ Gate in a south westerly direction for 103 metres,
(iv) A695 Scotswood Road - from its junction with St James’ Boulevard in a south easterly direction for 732 metres,
(v) Redheugh Bridge - from its junction with St James’ Boulevard, in an easterly direction, for its entire length, and
(b) prohibit all vehicles from making a right-hand turn from Scotswood Road roundabout into St James’ Boulevard.
2. The alternative route for vehicles will be signed on site as required.
3. The Order is required to allow works to be carried out on or near the highway.
4. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles engaged in the works and police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles on emergency call.
5. The Order will come into operation on 16 March 2024 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, for 2 days or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated that the closure will only be required from 8pm on 16 March to 4pm on 17 March 2024 within the period the Order is made for.
