What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (Hythe Road and Fairfield Square) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.29) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 11th March 2024 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
HYTHE ROAD

From its junction with Sevenoaks Road to junction with Fairfield Square (Outside No. 18 Hythe Road).
FAIRFIELD SQUARE
From its junction with Whitstable Road to its junction with Hythe Road. (Outside Nos. 2 - 32 Fairfield Square.)
WHITSTABLE ROAD
From its junction with Clacton Road to its junction with Fairfield Square (No.2).
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate Scottish and Southern trial hole and ducting works for new connection to Queen Alexandra Hospital.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 11th March 2024 to 2nd April 2024 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above, works will take place in sections as notified by signage and letters to residents in advance of works taking place:
Hythe Road: 11th March 2024 to 20th March 2024.
Fairfield Square: 18th March 2024 to 30th March 2024.
Whitstable Road: 25th March 2024 to 2nd April 2024.
D) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from:
Hythe Road: Sevenoaks Road, Peterborough Road, Wymering Lane, Hythe Road, Fairfield square, Whitstable Road.
Fairfield Square: Hythe Road, Wymering Lane, Whitstable Road.
Whitstable Road: Fairfield Square, Hythe Road, Wymering Lane.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
