What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE A232 GLA ROAD (HIGH STREET (CARSHALTON), CROYDON ROAD, ACRE LANE AND SIDE ROADS, LONDON BOROUGH OF SUTTON) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC, STOPPING AND BANNED TURNS) ORDER 2024
1) Transport for London in consultation with the London Borough of Sutton hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.
2) The purpose of the Order is to enable drainage investigation works to take place on the A232 High Street, Carshalton, Croydon Road and Acre Lane.
3) The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:
(1) stopping on The Square from a point 10 metres south of the extended northern building line of No. 5 The Square and its Junction with High Street, Carshalton;
(2) stop on High Street, Carshalton from the extended eastern building line of No. 20 High Street, Carshalton and its junction with The Square;
(3) stopping on High Street, Carshalton and Acre Lane between the extended common boundary of Nos. 66 to 70 and Nos. 72 to 76 High Street, Carshalton to the extended eastern building line of No. 49 Acre Lane;
(4) stopping on Carshalton Place from a point 11 metres north of the extended north-western building line of No. 6 Carshalton Place to its junction with High Street, Carshalton;
(5) stopping on Rotherfield Road from the western kerb-line of Rotherfield Road between its junction with High Street, Carshalton and the extended southern property boundary of Nos.108 and 110 High Street, Carshalton;
(6) stopping on Westcroft Road from a point 6.5 metres north-east of the extended northeastern building line of Westcroft Court, No. 59 Westcroft Road and its junction with High Street Carshalton;
(7) stopping on Park Lane between a point 4.5 metres south of the extended common boundary of Nos. 150 and 152 Park Lane and its junction with High Street, Carshalton/Acre Lane;
(8) stopping at the northern kerb-line of Croydon Road between its junction with Manor Road North and a point 3.5 metres east of the extended eastern building line of No. 350 Croydon Road;
(9) stopping at the southern kerb-line of Croydon Road between its junctions with Manor Road and Derek Avenue;
(10) stopping in the footway parking bays on the western footway of Manor Road North between its junction with Acre Lane and the extended common boundary of Nos. 10 and 12 Manor Road North;
(11) stopping at the western kerb-line of Harcourt Road between its junction with Croydon Road and a point 9 metres south of the extended northern building line of Coniston Court, Harcourt Road;
(12) Stopping at the eastern kerb-line of Harcourt Road between its junction with Croydon Road and a point 9 metres south of the extended northern building line of Chestnut Manor, 359 Croydon Road;
(13) turning right into Acre Lane from Manor Road North;
(14) turning left from Croydon Road into Manor Road;
(15) turning right from Manor Road into Croydon Road;
(16) turning right from the southbound carriageway of Manor Road North into Acre Lane. Traffic will be permitted to make the right turn from the northbound carriageway of Manor Road North.
Local access to Wright's Row and both arms of Old Watercress Row will be maintained when possible.
Works will be phased such that some restrictions will apply only at certain times.
The Order will be effective between 11th March 2024 and 11th September 2024 every night from 9:00 PM until 05:00 AM or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibition will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
4) The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:
(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;
(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.
5) At such times as the prohibitions are in force an alternative route will be indicated by traffic signs for traffic wanting to travel eastbound on Croydon Road via Acre Lane, Park Lane, Stafford Road and Plough Lane to normal route of travel or via Acre Lane, Park Lane and Stafford Road to normal route of travel.
