What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 16A

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council (“the Council”), in exercise of its powers as the local traffic authority under section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) and all other enabling powers, has made on the 12th February 2024 the Northumberland County Council (Port of Blyth Road Race 2024) Temporary Traffic Regulation Order 2024 (“the TTRO”).
The Council has made the TTRO for the purposes of facilitating the holding of the Port of Blyth Road Race 2024 (“the Event”) by restricting traffic on the U9512 Low Quay, the U9512 Wellington Street East, the U9512 Quay Road and the U9512 East Park View in Blyth (“the Road”).
The TTRO shall come into force at 9:30 hours on 7th April 2024 and will remain in force until 11:30 hours on 7th April 2024, subject to the provisions of section 16B of the Act.
There will be no alternative route available for the duration of the TTRO
All restrictions on the Road will be sign-posted and staffed and will remain in force only for as long as is necessary.
Nothing in the TTRO shall apply to:
a. Any activities taking place on the Road related to the organisation and holding of the Event;
b. Anything done with the permission of, or at the direction of, a police officer or a Duly Authorised Officer of the Council.
c. Any vehicle being used by, or for the purposes of, the emergency services;
d. Any vehicle being used by or for the purposes of a statutory undertaker (e.g. the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which requires vehicles to be brought onto the Road); or
e. Pedestrian access to any premises adjoining the Road.
