Stanhope Road - Temporary Prohibition of Driving Order

What is happening?


Notice is hereby given that on 22/2/24 South Tyneside Council made an Order under S.14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit driving on the following sections of road:- Stanhope Parade, Sth Shields, from its junction with Dean Rd to its junction with Mortimer Rd. The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road, and in particular to enable South Tyneside Council to resurface the highway. The Order will come into force on the
22/2/24. The maximum duration of the prohibition under this Order will be 18 mths however it is anticipated that the prohibition will only be needed from 25/2/24 for 3 consecutive Sundays. All vehicles except those engaged in the works, will be prohibited on the road described above for the duration of the works. The prohibition shall only apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the prohibition, the alternative route will be via Stanhope Parade, Dean Rd, Barnes Rd, Western App, West Wy, Woodside Wy, Stanhope Rd & vice versa.
