TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING ORDER 2024
Notice is hereby given that on 22nd February 2024 South Tyneside Council made an Order under S.14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit driving on the following sections of road:- Myrtle Ave, Whitburn, from its junction with Mill Ln to its junction with Oak Cres. The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road, and in particular to enable Northern Gas Networks to carry out gas replacement works. The Order will come into force on the 22/2/24. The maximum duration of the
prohibition under this Order will be 18mths. However it is anticipated that the prohibition will only be needed from 26/2/24 for 19 days. All vehicles except those engaged in the works, will be prohibited on the road described above for the duration of the works. The prohibition shall only apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the prohibition, the alternative route will be via Mill Ln, Percy Tce,
Frederick Tce, Hedworth Tce, Rackly Wy, Oak Cres and vice versa.
