What is happening?

Temporary Closure Of Public Footpath 17 Sheps Hollow, Swanage

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along part of Public Footpath 17, Swanage from grid reference SZ 033 804 (point A on the map below) to grid reference SZ 034 804 (Point B on map below), a distance of approximately 30 metres. This Notice is needed to comply with Health and Safety Regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to Highway Users. It will come into operation on 27 February 2024 for a period of 26 weeks, but it may be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.

This closure is needed due to landslips sweeping away the steps.

Temporary Closure Of Public Footpath Se11/43 & Se11/42, Kingston

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Public Footpath SE11/43 and SE11/42, Kingston as listed:

[i] Public Footpath SE11/43, Kingston from grid reference SY 950 117 (point A on the map below) to grid reference SY 954 477 (Point B on map below), a distance of approximately 800 metres;

[ii] Public Footpath SE11/42, Kingston from grid reference SY954 774 (Point C on the map below) to grid reference SY955 772 (Point D on the map below), a distance of approximately 320 metres. It will come into operation on 27 February 2024 for a period of 26 weeks, but it may be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.

This notice is required for safety reasons due to a landslip along the cliffs.

An alternative route for Public Footpath SE11/43, Kingston will be in place via Footpath SE11/44, West Street, South Street, Footpath SE11/41 or restricted byway to Hill Bottom - marked with blue dotted line below.

There will be no diversion route in place for Public Footpath SE11/42.
