What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT, 1984 – SECTION 14(1) AS AMENDED BY THE ROAD TRAFFIC (TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ACT, 1991 WALSALL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH RESERVOIR STREET, WALSALL (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC & CLEARWAY) ORDER 2024

Notice is hereby given that Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to prevent any vehicle from proceeding or stopping along that length of carriageway specified below: • That length of Reservoir Street, Walsall that is situated from its junction with Ida Road to its junction with Woodwards Road. A temporary ‘No stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway on the above length of road for the duration of the closure to facilitate the work. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Stopping restriction will be in force. A signed diversion route will be in operation for affected traffic and access to adjacent properties and for emergency vehicles will be maintained wherever it is safe and possible to do so. The alternative route for vehicles affected by this Order will be signed via Ida Road, Scarborough Road and Woodwards Road and vice versa, and (for vehicles travelling in an easterly direction along Jerome Road) via Southbourne Avenue, Blay Avenue and Alumwell Road, and (for vehicles travelling in a westerly direction along St Johns Road and Jerome Road) via Flaxhall Street, Ida Road, Alumwell Road, Blay Avenue and Southbourne Avenue. This Order will come into operation on Wednesday 13 March 2024 and will remain in force for a period of eighteen months or until the work is completed, whichever is earlier. The prohibition of traffic and no stopping is appropriate to ensure that a contractor working on behalf of Walsall Council can undertake carriageway resurfacing work in a manner that enhances the safety of both workforce and travelling public. Work is expected to take place between the hours of 0900 (9.00 am) and 1600 (4.00 pm) only from Wednesday 13 March 2024 to Tuesday 19 March 2024. No weekend work is proposed.
