What is happening?

THE EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
SECTION 14 (1) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION
OF THROUGH TRAFFIC NEWSHAM HILL
LANE LEVEL CROSSING, BEMPTON

Notice is hereby given that East Riding of Yorkshire
Council intends not less than seven days from the
date of this notice to make an Order, the effect of
which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding
along Newsham Hill Lane Level Crossing, Bempton and
20 metres either side of the level crossing commencing
17 March 2024 at 23.00 hours until 18 March 2024
at 06.00 hours to allow for “annual level crossing
testing” works. The road closure is necessary to enable
the works to be carried out in a manner consistent
with ensuring the safety of the public.
The Order is valid for 18 months, but it is anticipated
that the works will be completed within seven hours.
The alternative route for traffic affected by the road
closure will be via Newsham Hill Lane, Short Lane,
Bempton Lane, Buckton Gate, Main Street, High Street,
Gillus Lane, Bridlington CP, Bempton CP, Bridlington
North Ward, Bridlington Central and Old Town Ward.
The diversion route will be signed at the time of
closure. The road will be closed to all through traffic
but access will be maintained at all times for emergency
services and pedestrians. Further information can
