PUBLIC NOTICE
SCHOOL STREET (PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES) (BURR STREET, DUNSTABLE) EXPERIMENTAL ORDER 2024
Notice is hereby given that on 13th February 2024 Central Bedfordshire Council made an Experimental Order under Sections 9, 10 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of the Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act.
The order will come into operation on 28th February 2024 and will introduce a Prohibition of Driving on specified days as detailed on the lengths of roads below. Effect of the Experimental Order:-
To introduce a Prohibition of Motor Vehicles from Monday to Friday between 8:20 – 9:00am and 2:45-3:30pm during term time on the following length of road in Dunstable:
1. Burr Street, full length.
There will be exemptions for the following;
• A vehicle used by a resident of Burr Street
• A vehicle being used for Police, Ambulance, Fire Service or Special Forces purposes
• A pedal cycle which is not a motor vehicle
• A vehicle being used by a person with accessibility needs Reason for Experimental Order: As part of Central Bedfordshire’s Sustainability Plan, Central Bedfordshire Council are working with Public Health England to deliver a School Street at Dunstable Icknield Lower School. This decision has been made after careful consideration of the current traffic situation, pedestrian safety concerns and the well-being of the pupils. It aims to create a safer environment for children during drop-off and pick-up times, improve air quality outside the school gates, and encourage active travel.
Implementing this as an Experimental Order will enable the Council to monitor the scheme to assess it’s impact on the local area and modify or remove it at any time should the need arise.
It is proposed that the Experimental Order will be in operation for up to 18 months. Central Bedfordshire Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of this Order should be continued indefinitely. Within a period of 6 months beginning with the day on which the Order comes into force, any person may object to the making of Order and making the effects permanent.
Date of Operation: The Experimental Order will come into operation on the 28th February 2024.

Comments the Experimental Orders can remain in operation for up to 18 months. Before their effects can be continued in operation by permanent Orders all objections lodged during the trial of the Experimental Orders will have to be considered. Any objections must be in writing and state the grounds on which they are made. All objections must quote unique reference number A00434.
High Court Challenge: Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained therein on the ground that it is not within the powers of the relevant Section of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the ground that any requirement of that Section had not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within 6 weeks of the 13th February 2024 make application for the purpose to the High Court.
CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL (ELM AVENUE, ENSLOW CLOSE AND CULWORTH CLOSE, CADDINGTON) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Elm Avenue, Caddington between Manor Road and number 30 and the full lengths of Enslow Close and Culworth Close, Caddington.
This temporary closure is required to enable carriageway resurfacing works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place on Elm Avenue and Enslow Close from 8 to 14 March 2024 and on Culworth Close from 11 to 22 March 2024 between the hours of 8am and 6pm. The roads will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure is via Manor Road. The Order will come into operation on 8 March 2024 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL (LOWER HARPENDEN ROAD, HYDE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Lower Harpenden Road, Hyde between West Hyde Road and Copt Hall Road.
This temporary closure is required to enable carriageway patching and lining works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 12 to 15 March 2024 between the hours of 9am and 3:30pm. The road will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure is via A1081, Thrales End Lane, B653 and vice versa.
The Order will come into operation on 12 March 2024 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL (LUTON ROAD, SLIP END) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Luton Road, Slip End between the County Boundary and Mancroft Road.
This temporary closure is required to enable carriageway patching works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 11 to 15 March 2024 between the hours of 9am and 3:30pm. The road will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure is via Mancroft Road, Dunstable Road, A5183, Luton Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into operation on 11 March 2024 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIIE COUNCIL (WATLING STREET, HOUGHTON REGIS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Watling Street, Houghton Regis at the roundabout with Leighton Buzzard Bypass.
This temporary closure is required to enable carriageway patching and barrier repair works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 11 to 15 March 2024 between the hours of 8pm and 5am. The road will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure is via A5, B5120, High Street, A505, Watling Street and vice versa.
The Order will come into operation on 11 March 2024 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL (PEPSAL END ROAD, SLIP END) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Pepsal End Road, Slip End between Front Street and the County Boundary.
This temporary closure is required to enable surface dressing and lining works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 12 to 18 March 2024 between the hours of 8am and 6pm. The road will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure is via Pepsal End Road, Windmill Road, Hicks Road, A5183, B4540, Front Street and vice versa. The Order will come into operation on 12 March 2024 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL (MARKYATE ROAD AND LUTON ROAD, SLIP END) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the lengths of Markyate Road and Luton Road, Slip End between the County Boundary and Mancroft Road.
This temporary closure is required to enable surface dressing and lining works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 11 to 21 March 2024 between the hours of 9am and 3:30pm. The roads will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure is via Church Road, B4540, Caddington Road, Luton Road, Dunstable Road, A5183, B4540 and vice versa.
The Order will come into operation on 11 March 2024 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL (CASTLE HILL ROAD, TOTTERNHOE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire
Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Castle Hill Road, Totternhoe approximately 140 metres south of Eaton Bray Road.
This temporary closure is required to enable tree works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 11 to 12 March 2024 between the hours of 9:30am and 4pm. The road will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure is via Eaton Bray Road, Totternhoe Road, High Street, Bower Lane, Harling Road, B489, Totternhoe Road, Dunstable Road, Castle Hill Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into operation on 11 March 2024 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSRIRE COUNCIL (EATON BRAY ROAD, TOTTERNHOE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Eaton Bray Road, Totternhoe outside the Mechanical Services Garage.
This temporary closure is required to enable fire hydrant repair works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 27 February to 1 March 2024. The road will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure is via Castle Hill Road, Church Road, Dunstable Road, Bower Lane, High Street, Totternhoe Road, Eaton Bray Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into operation on 27 February 2024 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL (THRALES END LANE, HARPENDEN) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Thrales End Lane, Harpenden approximately 20 metres either side of the railway bridge.
This temporary closure is required to enable structural repair works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 22 to 24 February 2024 between the hours of 8pm and 6am. The road will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure is via B653, West Hyde Road, A1081 and vice versa.
The Order will come into operation on 22 February 2024 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

This temporary closure is required to enable carriageway resurfacing works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 26 February to 15 March 2024 between the hours of 8am and 6pm. The roads will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure is via Appleby Gardens, First Avenue and vice versa.
The Order will come into operation on 26 February 2024 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.
