A5 Trunk Road - Temporary Road Restrictions To Instillation Of Safety Barriers

What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a)
THE A5 TRUNK ROAD (ATHERSTONE, WARWICKSHIRE)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) intends to make an order on the A5 Trunk Road, at Atherstone in the County of Warwickshire, to allow the instillation of safety barriers and signage to be carried out.

The effect of the Order will be to –

(a) impose a 40 miles per hour speed restriction on the eastbound carriageway of the A5 from its roundabout junction with the B4116 Merevale Lane and the B4116 Holly Lane (Holly Lane Roundabout), to a point 920 metres east of its junction with Holly Lane Roundabout, at Atherstone;

(b) impose a 50 miles per hour speed limit on Holly Lane roundabout; and

(c) close the link road leading from the eastbound carriageway of the A5, to the B4116 Long Street, at Atherstone;

The work is expected to start at 00:01 hours on Thursday 14 March 2024 and continue for approximately 2 weeks. The link road is expected to be closed for 24 hours per day from 14 March 2024 until 20 March 2024, and then nightly between 20:00 hours and 06:00 hours from 21 March 2024 until 27 March 2024. The Order will come into force on 11 March 2024.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes will be exempt from the speed restriction and closures. Vehicles being used for special forces purposes will be exempt from the speed restriction and vehicles being used in connection with the works will be exempt from the closures.

A diversion route via the A5 and the B4116 will be signed.
