THE A487 TRUNK ROAD (TREFECHAN, ABERYSTWYTH, CEREDIGION) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICLES) ORDER 2024

THE WELSH MINISTERS have made an Order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which is necessary to undertake works on or near the A487 trunk road at Aberyswyth, Ceredigion.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit all vehicles from proceeding on the length of the A487 trunk road also known as Penparcau Road, that extends from a point 100 metres south-east of the centre-point of its junction with Gerddi Rheidol in a north-westerly direction for a distance of 360 metres to the southern approach to Trefechan Bridge at Trefechan, Aberystwyth. 

The alternative route for south-eastbound vehicles affected by the closure will be to proceed in a north-easterly direction along Mill Street, Alexandra Road onto Terrace Road, then continue in a north-easterly direction along North Parade, Northgate Street to Coopers Corner, then in a south-easterly direction along the A44 Llanbadarn Road and then in a south-westerly direction along the A4120 Heol y Bont to rejoin the A487. 

The alternative route for north-westbound vehicles affected by the closure will be to proceed south-eastbound along Penparcau Road, then in a north-easterly direction along the A4120 Heol y Bont, then in a north-westerly direction along the A44 Llanbadarn Road to Coopers Corner and then in a south-westerly direction along Northgate Street, Thespian Street, Alexandra Road and Mill Street to re-join the A487.

The temporary prohibition, which will be signed accordingly, will operate intermittently overnight (19:00 hours to 06:00 hours) from 4 March 2024 until 8 March 2024 or until the temporary traffic signs are permanently removed. 

Although the Order is only expected to operate during the times and dates specified above it will remain valid for a maximum period of 18 months as a contingency should the work need to be rescheduled or consequential or other work is required. Advance notice of any changes to times and dates will be displayed before any rescheduled work.
