What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (Havant Road - Various Roads) (Temporary Road Closure)
(Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.20) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council has made the above Order under Section
14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary
Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 19 th February 2024 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
GALT ROAD From its junction with Havant Road for 10

metres.

LOWER FARLINGTON ROAD From its junction with Havant Road to its

junction with Broad Gardens.
From its junction with Second Avenue to its
junction with Old Farm Way.

B) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
HAVANT ROAD From its junction with Farlington Avenue to
its junction with Gillman Road (on both
sides).

C) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate gas main replacement and renewal works.
D) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 19 th February 2024 to 2 nd May 2024 or completion of the works, whichever is
sooner.
Works will be carried out in sections. Works on Havant Road will be carried out in 60
metre sections. Each works will be notified by the placement of advance notice signs and
letters to affected residents and businesses.
E) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from
Galt Road: Havant Road, Farlington Avenue, Evelegh Road, Galt Road.
Lower Farlington Road (Havant Road to Broad Gardens): Havant Road, Eastern
Road, Fitzherbert Road, Lower Farlington Road.
Lower Farlington Road (Second Avenue to Old Farm Way): First Avenue, Waterworks
Road, Fitzherbert Road, Lower Farlington Road and Havant Road, Eastern Road,
Fitzherbert Road, Lower Farlington Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the
works.
