PALMER STREET, JARROW

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING ORDER 2024

Notice is hereby given that South Tyneside Council intends to make an Order under S.14(1) of the Road Traffic
Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit driving on the following sections of road:-
 Palmer St, Jarrow, from its junction with Western Rd to its junction with Pickering Ct. The Order is required because
works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road, and in particular to enable South Tyneside Council
to resurface the carriageway on Western Rd. The Order will come into force on the 29/2/24. The maximum duration of
the prohibition under this Order will be 18mths.However it is anticipated that the prohibition will only be needed on 6-
8/3/24 & 22/3/24. All vehicles except those engaged in the works, will be prohibited on the road described above for the
duration of the works.  The prohibition shall only apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be
indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the prohibition, the alternative route will be via Palmer St, Grange Rd
West, Ellison St, Western Rd and vice versa.
