TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF FOOTPATH (THORPE FOOTPATH NO.1) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION) CONTINUATION NO.2 ORDER 2024

What is happening?

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State Transport in pursuance of the
powers conferred by Sections 14 and 15 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 approves
of The Nottinghamshire County Council (Thorpe Public Footpath 1) (Temporary
Prohibition) Notice 2023 (which came into force on 23rd August 2023 and was continued in
force by a Continuation Order which remains in force until 22nd February 2024 inclusive)
being extended and continuing in force until 22nd February 2025 or until completion of the
relevant works, whichever is the sooner.
The Order has the following effect:-
No person shall: -
(a) proceed on foot,
in the following length of Footpath at Thorpe in the District of Newark and
Sherwood: -
Thorpe Footpath No.1 where it crosses a timber footbridge over the drain at grid
reference point SK 7660 5013
AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction there is
no alternative route on public rights of way.

If the works are not completed within the above period the Order may be extended for a
longer period with the further approval of the Secretary of State for Transport.
The prohibition is required to protect public safety and enable repair or replacement of the
footbridge.
