M56 Junction 11 and 12, Multiple Temporary Traffic Restrictions
What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14
THE M56 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 11 - 12 CARRIAGEWAYS AND SLIP ROADS) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the M56 Motorway, in the Borough of Halton, in the County of Cheshire, to enable resurfacing works, bridge joint replacement works, and other general maintenance, to be carried out in safety.
The Order will impose a 50 mph speed limit on the following sections of the M56 Motorway:
i. the eastbound carriageway, from the Brook Furlong Bridge, to the Newton Lane Bridge;
ii. the westbound carriageway, from a point 785 metres east of the Newton Lane Bridge, to the last point at which the J12 entry slip road joins the carriageway;
iii. the eastbound entry slip road at J12 (for its full length);
iv. the westbound entry slip road at J11 (for its full length);
v. the hard shoulder adjacent to the eastbound carriageway, from a point 36 metres east of the first point at which the J12 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to a point 110 metres west of the first point at which the J11 entry slip road joins the carriageway, (when used as running lanes as indicated by speed restriction signs;
vi. the hard shoulder adjacent to the westbound carriageway, from a point 640 metres west of the Newton Lane Bridge, to a point 120 metres east of the last point at which the J12 entry slip road joins the carriageway, (when used as running lanes as indicated by speed restriction signs.
The restrictions are expected to be in place overnight between 20:00 and 06:00 (07:00 on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Monday 19 February 2024 and ending on Friday 26 July 2024.
However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights until completed.
The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special forces vehicles and will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs. The Order comes into force on 18 February 2024 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months. For further information contact sam.smith@nationalhighways.co.uk.
