Milburngate, Temporary Road Closure & Restrictions Due To Resurfacing Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (Unc Road 27.6 Milburngate, Durham) (Temporary Road Closure and Suspension of No Through Road) Order 2024

The Council proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on on the following lengths of road: Temporary Road Closure a 150 metre length of Milbumgate that extends southwards from A690 Milburngate Roundabout, Durham. Temporary Suspension of No Through Road It will also be necessary to suspend the no through road restriction at Sidegate as detailed in The County Council of Durham (Durham City Zone 2) (Traffic Management) Order 2001 for traffic exiting onto A691 to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken. An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the northern side of the closure from A690 westerly and southerly onto Margery Lane and continuing south and east onto Grove Street and northerly on South Street to the junction with Crossgate to the southern side of the closure. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on 3/3/24 and are anticipated to be completed in 7 working nights (no works on Friday or Saturday night) between 11pm and 5am per night. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
