What is happening?

KIRKLEES COUNCIL

(SPEED LIMIT) (NO. 117) ORDER 2022 A649, HALIFAX ROAD, HARTSHEAD MOOR TOP (30MPH SPEED LIMIT)

The Council of the Borough of Kirklees has made the above Order under their powers in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which, as it affects roads in the Cleckheaton area in the Kirklees district, will be to:

i. Impose a 30mph speed limit on the following lengths of road:

1. A649, Halifax Road, Hartshead Moor Top, Cleckheaton From the Kirklees/Calderdale boundary to a point 212 metres south-east with the produced south-eastern kerbline of Scholes Lane

2. New Service Road, A649, north-east side of Halifax Road Hartshead Moor Top, Cleckheaton - From the junction of Scholes Lane to the junction of Sunnybank Close Along its whole length

3. Walton Lane, Hartshead Moor Top, Cleckheaton From the junction of A649, Halifax Road Hartshead Moor Top to the Kirklees/Calderdale boundary

ii. Revoke the following speed limit provisions:

Speed Limit No.27 Order 2000 – 2nd schedule Item 2 Relating to a 40-mph speed limit: From a point 212 metres south-east of its junction with the produced kerbline of Scholes Lane to a point 188 metres northwest of its junction with the produced north-western kerbline of Moorfield Way

Walton Lane, Hartshead Moor Top Relating to a 60-mph observed speed limit – from the Calderdale boundary to the junction of A649, Halifax Road, Hartshead Moor Top

A649, Halifax Road, Hartshead Moor Top, Cleckheaton Relating to a 60-mph observed speed Limit from the Kirklees/Calderdale boundary to a point 188 metres north-west of its junction with the produced northwestern kerbline of Moorfield Way

This Order was made on 06 February 2024 and will take effect on 16 February 2024.

Any person wishing to challenge the Order on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any requirements of that, or of any instrument made under it, have not been complied with may apply to the High Court within six weeks following 16 February 2024.
