Towthorpe, Temporary Restriction & Prohibition Due To Road Works

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14

THE A64 TRUNK ROAD (STOCKTON ON THE FOREST) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A64 Trunk Road, in the County of North Yorkshire, to enable new junction, road widening, road marking, traffic island and signs works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start at 8pm on Monday 11 March for 6 weeks, or until completed. The effect of the Order will be to, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to:

(i) impose a temporary 40mph speed restriction on the A64 northbound and southbound carriageways from Towthorpe Moor Lane to an unnamed road leading to Sandmartins Nursery, a distance of 1500 metres;

(ii) close the bus stop areas adjacent to the A64 southbound carriageway approximately 824 metres and northbound carriageway approximately 764 metres north east of Towthorpe Moor Lane;

(iii) close the footways adjacent to the A64 from Towthorpe Moor Lane to an unnamed road leading to Sandmartins Nursery

During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available. Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 10 March 2024 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
