What is happening?

The Surrey County Council

Various Roads in Horsell, Knaphill and Chobham (50mph 40mph and 20mph Speed Limits

and Revocation) Order 2024

On 13 February 2024 Surrey County Council made the above named Order, under Section 84 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers, which will come into force on 19 February 2024. The effect of which will be to impose –

(1) A 50mph speed limit on that length of Littlewick Road (C12) Knaphill, as extends from its junction with South Road to its junction with the Horsell Birch Roundabout; (2) A 40mph speed limit on the lengths of roads in the First Schedule to this Notice; (3) A 20mph speed limit on the lengths of roads in the Second Schedule to this Notice; (4) Extend the existing 30 mph speed limit in South Road, Horsell, (imposed by a system of streetlights), from the existing terminal point at the final streetlamp near the car park to The Plough Inn, north- eastwards for a distance of 145m.

The speed limits imposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011, and will have the effect of revoking (1) The Borough Council of Woking (Chobham Road (A3046) and Shores Road (A245) (50 mph Speed limit) Order 2001; and (2) Item 3 and Item 4 of the Schedule to The Borough Council of Woking (Various Roads) (50 mph Speed Limit) Order 1998 in their entirety, and amending (3) The Borough Council of Woking (Woodham Lane (A245) Woking) (40 mph Speed Limit) Order 1996; and (4) The Surrey County Council Various Roads in Chobham (Speed Limits) Order 2008.

A copy of the plan showing the lengths of roads to which the Order relates and a Statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order and a copy of the Order and Orders to be revoked and amended may be viewed at (1) Reception, Surrey County Council, Quadrant Court, 35 Guildford Road, Woking, Surrey GU22 7QQ, during normal opening hours; (2) Knaphill Library, 4 Anchor Crescent, Knaphill, Woking, Surrey GU21 2PD, during normal opening hours; and at (3) Reception, Surrey County Council, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ, during normal office hours.

First Schedule 40 mph – (1) South Road (D3643) Horsell from the roundabout junction with Littlewick Road to lamp column 1 (2) Horsell Common Road (D3643) Horsell the entire length (3) Horsell Birch (C140) Horsell from lamp column 3 to and including the roundabout junction with Littlewick Road (4) Chobham Road (A3046) Horsell from the Woking/Surrey Heath Borough boundary to its junction with Shores Road (5) Station Road (A3046) Chobham from the Woking/Surrey Heath Borough boundary to a point 163 metres north-west of the junction with the centre line of Philpot Lane (6) Shores Road (A245) Horsell the entire length (7) Littlewick Road (C12) Horsell from its junction with western kerb line of South Road to its junction with Chobham Road (8) Woodham Road (D3657) Horsell from the Six Crossroads Roundabout to lamp column 19 at its junction with Carlton Road (9) The Six Crossroads Roundabout (A320) Horsell the entire length (10) Woodham Lane, Horsell, from the existing terminal point signed near All Saints Church to the Six Crossroads Roundabout.
