What is happening?
THE ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL (CLEARWAYS) ORDER NO 1 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Isle of Wight Council in exercise of their powers under section 1(1) and (2), 2(1) to (3) and 4(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ('the Act' of 1984), the Road Traffic Act 1991 ("the Act of 1991") and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with The Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act of 1984 propose to make an order the effect of which will be to:
1. To revoke the provisions of 'The Isle of Wight Council (Clearways) Order No 1 2017'.
2. To re-enact the provisions contained therein subject to the following amendments:
a. To introduce a highway a '24 Hour Clearway' in the following lengths of road:
Military Road, Shorwell, on both sides, between a point 87 metres north-west and a point 137.5 metres south-east of its junction with Chine Lane.
Military Road, Freshwater, on both sides, between a point 17 metres south-east of its junction with Brook Village Road to a point 91 metres north-west of its junction with Hanover Point Access Road.
This Order is being proposed on grounds of road safety to facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians) and for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising. A copy of the draft Order, this Notice and the relevant plan may be inspected between normal office hours at the Customer Service Centre, County Hall, Newport, Isle of Wight during the objection period.
