TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A34 Trunk Road in the County of Hampshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road by contractors working on behalf of SSE.

The effect of the Order is to authorise:-

1) the overnight closure of;

(a) the northbound carriageway of the A34 between Kingsworthy Junction (A33) and Sutton Scotney Services;

(b) the southbound carriageway of the A34 between Bullington Cross (A30/ A303) and Three Maids Hill Interchange (A272); and

(c) all of the roads leading to and from the carriageways described in a) and b) above; and

2) the 24-hour closure of all of the lay-bys adjacent to the carriageways described in 1. a) and b) above.

These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake the replacement of overhead high voltage line support posts at South Wonston and all associated works.

It is expected that the work will last for 1 night on Thursday 22nd February 2024 subject to change due to unforeseeable circumstances. Please confirm by checking National Highways website. The overnight closure will take place between 21:00 and 06:00 (maximum period). The Order will come into force on 20th February 2024 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete. Please note this is an update to a notice published previously 24th November 2023. Traffic affected by the northbound closure will be diverted northbound on the A33 and westbound on the A303. Traffic wishing to join northbound at Three Maids Hill will be diverted southbound to circumnavigate the roundabout at M3 Junction 9 and follow the above diversion. Traffic affected by the southbound closure will be diverted eastbound on the A303 and then southbound on either the M3 or A33 (if non-Motorway class). The temporary closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
