What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(C154 WHITELEDGE ROAD, SKELMERSDALE, WEST LANCASHIRE BOROUGH) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.

1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed in a Southbound direction over that length of C154 Whiteledge Road, Skelmersdale from the start of the Southbound exit slip on the Toby Island Roundabout for a distance of 25m in a Southerly direction.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours until 1700 hours on Monday 19th February 2024 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-

C153 Gillibrands Road, East of Whiteledge Road – C153 Digmoor Road, Skelmersdale – C153 Tanhouse Road, Skelmersdale in a Northerly direction to the Mercury Way and Egerton Roundabout – C153 Tanhouse Road, Skelmersdale in a Southbound direction – C153 Carr Lane, Skelmersdale – B5312 Grimshaw Road, Skelmersdale – A577 Stannanought Road, Skelmersdale – C155 Pimbo Road, Skelmersdale – C154 Whiteledge Road, Skelmersdale.

The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow water chamber rebuilding works to be carried out by Network Plus on behalf of United Utilities.
