What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL 

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Portway Road, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Portway Road, Oldbury between Eel Street and Shidas Lane. A diversion route will be signed via Shidas Lane, Rounds Green Road, Halesowen Street, Churchbridge and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 16/02/2024 effective from 10/02/2024. Purpose – to facillitate the siting of a crane, necessary to enable a steel platform to be lifted onto an overhead power line. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Brindle Road, Elm Bank Road, Laburnum Road and Laurel Road, Walsall) (Temporary Road Closures) Order 2024 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Brindle Road at the junctions of Birchfield Way and Plane Tree Road, Elm Bank Road at the junctions of Thorncroft Way and Plane Tree Road, Laburnum Road at the junction of Birchfield Way and Laurel Road at the junction of Birchfield Way, Walsall. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Brindle Road (road closure) junction of Birchfield Way (13/02/2024) – traffic will be diverted via Plane Tree Road, Birchfield Way and vice-versa. Brindle Road (road closure) junction Plane Tree Road (14/02/2024) – traffic will be diverted via Thorncroft Way, Plane Tree Road and vice-versa. Elm Bank Road (road closure) junction Thorncroft Way (13/02/2024) – traffic will be diverted via Plane Tree Road, Thorncroft way and vice-versa. Elm Bank Road (road closure) junction Plane Tree Road (14/02/2024) – traffic will be diverted via Thorncroft Way, Plane Tree Road and vice-versa. Laburnum Road (road closure) junction Birchfield Way (12/02/2024) – traffic will be diverted via Birchfield Way, Laurel Road, Walstead Road and vice-versa. Laurel Road (road closure) junction Birchfield Way (12/02/2024) – traffic will be diverted via Birchfield Way, Laburnum Road, Walstead Road and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 14/02/2024 effective from 12/02/2024 (9:30am-3:30pm each day). Purpose – to facilitate access to install new traffic calming speed tables and associated carriageway surfacing by Parade Civil Engineering on behalf of Sandwell MBC. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Horseley Road, Tipton) (Temporary One-Way Road Closure) and (Eagle Street, Tipton) (Road Closure) Order 2024 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Horseley Road, Tipton at the junction of Eagle Street (one-way in an easterly direction) and Eagle Street (road closure) at the junction of Horseley Road. Aaccess to any affected frontages on Horseley Road will be maintained, but only when safety permits. A diversion route for both road closures will be signed via Alexandra Road, Lower Church Lane, Horseley Heath and New Road. Access to Eagle Street (cul-de-sac) will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic proceeding in an easterly direction will need to follow the above diversion route to gain access. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 15/02/2024 (7pm-6am). Purpose – to facilitate access to replace a manhole frame and cover by Customer Solutions Plus on behalf of Severn Trent Water.
